You are correct, the layout views are 2D vector view snapshots of the "Live Model" and can be edited as mere 2D line entities (added or subtracted in 2D). DJP

I rarely use the wall detail views but I checked one of my Imperial plans and verified your claim (they had a 50-50 chance of being right and had a bad programming day that day it appears). DJP

This should be also reported to Chief Architect Tech Support as a "Bug" for proper address for all. Elevations sent to layout can be completed edited to anyone's satisfaction using the "Edit Layout Line" tool before printing, with that tool you can add or subtract 3D surface generated lines. (That tool would NOT help in terms of plan views but I consider that to be a much more minor problem than "Wall Poly-line Edge lines" showing in Elevation Views since there is a solution to correct that). Please post the above to Chief Architect Tech Support as a "Bug" report (posting this here is not necessarily a useful route to solution though there is NOTHING "Wrong" in doing so). A report to those who can do something effective about it is more useful. Thank you for bringing this up so others will now look and report back to you agreement or disagreement based upon looking. No, your license agreement clearly states that the use of any version of Chief Architect belongs not to you but to Chief Architect Inc. You and only you are licensed to own and use any version of Chief Architect. I suppose your friend can use a seat of your older chief but not as its owner, it would be purely a loan and would not include any support of any kind or type. DJP

People are different. So it is one's job to gauge one's clients and deliver the level of graphic communication necessary to fulfill their needs. Our job is to graphically communicate that we understand what they want, so whatever that requires is correct for that client. There are no slots that everyone fits into. The attached ray trace was created in X8 for a client who has not, to date upgraded. How I created this pool room: 1. Created the structure 2.Added the windows 3.Drew the outline of the pool using room divider walls 4. In the resulting "Room Specification Dialog" I programmed the "room" to be open below 4. The fact is that technology moves into the future whether you are speaking of computer hardware or software. It gets better and better each year, X8 is still perfectly good except X11+ is even better in terms of a lot of features including rendering. PBR was added in X10. On a fully up to date PC or Mac ray tracing is a lot faster and PBR in experienced hands is even faster. I have clients that still use X5,6,7,8,9,10 and 11 so I have them all on my PC to serve those who choose not to upgrade. I mostly use X11 myself, it is "State of the Art" until X12 is released. DJP

When you send an image or render view to layout directly if you then upsize the image to fit the target page, it tends to degrade the appearance of the image, so I believe what Jintu is suggesting is to export the image to a size larger than the target layout page size so when you send that image file to layout you can downsize it using its corner handles instead of enlarging a smaller image instance which degrades its appearance. Making a large image smaller compresses its pixels and enlarging an existing image causes its pixels to be enlarged causing the loss of clarity. DJP

I just recently found out about the tool, read the manual and then practiced using i and found it quite useful. I posted this question to get more reality on its uses and importance. DJP

How do you guys use this tool, please? I searched the Reference Manual and videos but have seen no examples of how or why to use it other than to zero in on an object in a camera view. It is not that I do not understand at all, rather I am interested as to why it is important to you and why that is, please. DJP
