  1. In some cases you may be able to do a "save as" and parse the model down to the problem area without much effort.
  2. I have v.10b running on Windows 7 Pro native. No virtual PC.
  3. Try adding invisible walls to define a "porch room". This should be an easy one. HTH.
  4. AutoCad --> .dxf --> Accutrans --> .obj --> v.10 Accutrans being the file converter and .obj is best format to import to v.10. HTH. EDIT: Also, Blender has add-on to import .dxf if you are comfortable with that app. Sketchup Pro can maybe do the conversion too?
  5. I must be missing something in the question. The drop down menu tools/reverse plan does not do all that you need?

I have used this sort of approach before. log siding.zip
  7. I don't think you can export to .obj but .3ds should be available. You must be doing something wrong. I think we are going to need another hint.
  8. Sorry, I misunderstood. Grid disappers in v.4 as well when checking reflect. Easy to use load muntins?
  9. Hah!... Did wonder that. I checked in v.4 and it works. Must be a bug.
  10. Yes. Model, Object, Component. For the most part anyway.
  11. Many of the symbols in Chief are low poly. Chief then uses a smoothing angle to make them look smooth. You may want to try setting your smoothing angle to 35 degrees in C4D if that is possible. Or, you could make your own doorknob symbol and set as default. HTH.
  12. Hello, I can help you with that. Please send me a PM if you are still looking. Thanks!
  13. That's interesting Jintu. I wonder why .png is an issue.
  14. Thank you Sir for posting the blend file. Will have a closer look in the morning. Cheers!
  15. Can you post your blender file? I will have a look for you.
  16. Hi Jim, I think your approach is correct. The Main building elements are relatively efficient as far as polygons are concerned. While Chief unfortunately does not have X-Ref you can keep things oriented in the X and Y to match the main buiding. Using copy/paste/hold postion can be useful. Import/Export 2D will also stay oriented with proper setup. Good Luck!
  17. The house symbols should be no problem. The site could get a bit slow as you wait for the terrain to rebuild with edits. You may be able to turn rebuild off at times.
  18. Maybe try running these up your flagpole. Of course the flag image can be changed to any country and or state. Please let me know what you think. Thanks! Flags by imodel.zip
  19. Howdy Folks, I find myself more and more delving into my own textures. Just can't find what I want. So I made this one for a job in progress. Thought I would share my efforts and get some constructive critique at the same time. This is per the actual product. I know a bump for grain might be useful. But I am not seeing that sort of detail in my renders. Scale should be set to 48x21. I could make a staggered version as well if there is enough interest. Thanks!
  20. Larry, Simple solution would be to match Bills "corner turn" to a tread width and then start stairs from there. Does that make sense?
  21. Me thinks there could be a solution without the wedgie. I have done some finish work in the past, but I am older, and rusting now. The problem with the wedgie is that it will not weather well. Maybe even crack during install? This is not per Larry's plan and is exaggerated to test my idea. I have also set smoothing to 1 degree so the mesh can be easily visualized in vector mode. Bill, can you look at this and tell me what I have done wrong? Thanks! Larry's Miter.zip
  22. Compound angle like you have won't work with 3D molding from my experience. I have gotten the same thing before.
  23. I think memory clock speed may be more important than amount of memory with respect to CA. I monitor my GPU when using CA and see relatively low memory usage. EDIT: I think maximum number of CPU cores will give the most boost for CA!
  24. Not sure what you mean by this. Not changing can have its advantages. Works fine for me and always has. It seems to be the most universally supported format. Interesting comment about Sketchup.
