  1. https://www.youtube.com/user/dshall44/search?query=basement Here are some videos that may help you. Are you a SSA member? Where are you from? Maybe set up a signature and give us a little more info about you If you're a SSA member, try Chief's training videos.
  2. Hey guys! Wow, I can't believe it has taken me this long to reply back. Life has been very hectic! I really appreciate the time you guys put into helping me out. The winders trick worked for me. Thank You!!!
  3. Have you thought about having the fine people of Chief Architect take a look? https://support.chiefarchitect.com/home They've solved my problem a time or two. If you (or another user) can't figure it out, maybe they can. Good luck Larry, hope you get it figured out!
  4. Hey guys, a while back there was a thread where someone came up with a work around on how to get the bottom section of stairs to cover a wall/have the railing die into the wall. I have no idea what I'm talking about here, It's been a long morning!!! I'll attach a photo. Anyways, I've searched this forum last night and a little today and can't seem to locate this thread. Any Ideas? I'm pretty sure I replied in that thread, but when I search for threads I replied in, it only gives me a few. I know I've replied in more than that. Hmm.
  5. First I'd like to thank the people who are taking time out of their busy day to help me with this problem I'm having. What I'm trying to achieve is proving to be quite difficult. After watching Scott's videos on roofs, I'm still stumped. I'm trying to set my framing defaults to the way my company builds the roof in the field. Typically we use a 2 x 10 rafter with a 2 x 6 fascia. Whenever I try to change the fascia settings in the dialogue box I get these wacky results. Attached are a few pics of what I'm trying to achieve. Also attached is the plan I'm futzing with and a screenshot of my results. I keep getting this gap between the soffit and the bottom of the roof plane. What am I doing wrong? Roof Trouble.plan
  6. Hey Robert! Welcome to the forum! Where are you from? There might be a local user's group in your area you could join. I love Chief. It's a valuable tool.
  7. For future reference, this button should center your plan on your screen. (See Attached Photo) Mac, or PC
  8. It wouldn't hurt to pick the brain of a power user. Some of them offer training classes via the internet. That way your feet will already be wet when you jump in.
  9. Wow Dennis, Thank you! That looks great! I have always wanted to use a third party software to enhance my renderings, just never took the leap.
  10. Hey Shane. I do only use chief. I fact, I don't even like to import things from outside of chief to use in my plans other than art and a few materials. In the past my plan would begin to lag and become glitchy because I would bring in 3D symbols from 3D warehouse. I'm an impatient man, so that didn't work for me. Lol but Chief has some great libraries.
  11. Dennis and Scott, I let them cook for about 30 minutes which was about 10 passes for each one. I didn't use bump map because I'm not sure what to set the height multiplier to... what do you guys set it to for carpet and hardwood? Thank you for the kind words and criticism. Both are appreciated.
  12. Well, here is a few renders of a plan I did for a client.
  13. I'm shopping around for training. I need help with foundations, a little touching up on Roofs. I know nothing about terrain other then how to place it, and I'd like to learn about construction document. Basically I'd like to start a plan from square one all the way to construction documents. I'm free Fri, Sat, and Sun. evenings. I live in Fort Wayne, IN but can't seem to find anyone here that uses Chief. If you can help, please contact me at RJDDesignConcepts@gmail.com with pricing and what you normally do. I will provide the plan we can work on, and I can get that to you ahead of time so you can get familiar with it. Maybe we could go over rendering and different ways to dress up my elevations for some WOW factor. Thank you in advance!
  14. This is how we measure our Living Areas. I stopped using Chief's because of the wonky numbers I was getting... example.plan
  15. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong here? My basement ceiling height is supposed to be at 109" and my garage slab is supposed to be 24" below the sub floor. There are not supposed to be concrete walls on the sides of my garage like there are now (See Attached Picture) My garage ceiling height is supposed to be at 121" What settings did I fudge up? This is why I need training on foundations. I never use the "Automatic Tools" Like Roofs or Foundations. Thank you! Felix Quist Lot 59 HPE.plan
  16. Sweet! Thank you. I have all the files, but the little icon in the right hand side of my screen says "Okay, notify me when it's ready" Grr! I want Windows 10 Now. Absolutely HATE windows 8.
  17. Alan, does it delete all of your files when it installs, or does it just leave them alone?
  18. Roz, maybe post your plan. The image is coming up very tiny. You'll probably get an answer very quick! Good Luck!
  19. I believe the gentleman's plan you posted does do training... https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/2967-chief-training/ Maybe he could teach you how he puts his layouts together.
  20. Hey Mick, I've created a Facebook page for my design business, and I wanted to put a few floor plans on the page. Mark. I'm going to give your idea a try.
  21. I need a bigger size. I need it to be readable on Facebook. It gets very pixelated when I upload it.
