  1. Mark, I just re-read your suggestions this morning and if I'm understanding correctly in your second post, you've written a macro to get the quantity, but you've still had to enter the hardware name into the macro itself? No matter what I do, I will be doing something manually, it is just a matter of selecting which option I think is most efficient. When I said originally I was entering the hardware name by hand, I was doing it as you mentioned, into a custom field in the OIP in the cabinet defaults, but since we use multiple hardware pieces in a kitchen, for example, I was still doing a lot of manual entering which is what led me to just creating my own hardware library, thus allowing me to select a piece and have the schedule populate automatically. Thanks again for your thoughts on this. Susan
  2. Hi Mark, Thanks for having a go at this! I need the hardware brand and model I'm using and the quantity in the columns. I used to manually enter the name of the hardware and the quantity for each cabinet until I realized that was more time consuming than creating my own hardware for the room. I drop a piece of Chief hardware from their catalog into the plan, adjust the size to what I need, rename it with the manufacturer's code and then save the piece into my custom library (and delete the piece I altered in plan). This way, when I place the hardware on the cabinet, my schedule populates automatically with the correct name for the hardware and figures out the quantity. I will live with (PULL) in the column for now and hope that Chief has time to remove it for the next release. Susan
  3. Thanks. I have sent this request to tech support and several other contacts I have at Chief so perhaps (PULL) will be gone in the next version of Chief. In the meantime they suggested a work around of changing the schedule to text and editing out the (PULL), but I don't see a way to go back from text to schedule again and I really need the 3d elevations so I will live with (PULL) for now.
  4. Done! I posted in the Suggestions forum to have (PULL) removed.
  5. Thanks for the responses. I was afraid that it might be the case that it is hard coded and not something I can change.
  6. The automatic hardware column in X13 for Schedules is great! I was wondering if there is a way to get rid of the word "(PULL)" that automatically populates in the description box? I can't seem to locate where that was embedded. Please see attached screen shot. Thanks!
  7. Happy to help. Don't hesitate to ask more questions. Very grateful to be up and running again!
  8. Other MacBook Pro in our office also upgraded first to X13 new version and then to Big Sur several days later.
  9. X13 before Big Sur: 1. Upgraded to new version of X13 on 8/4/21 2. Upgraded from Catalina to Big Sur 11.5.1 on 8/8/21 3. Mac auto update Big Sur to 11.5.2 on 8/14/21
  10. Yes, this MacBook Pro and the other MacBook Pro had each been upgraded to the update for X13 and from Catalina to Big Sur. The Mac desktop in the office, which is used rarely, we discovered is too old to run Big Sur so it will be replaced with a new Mac desktop.
  11. In my case the endless loop error messages and subsequent crash happened regardless of what I tried: 1. I tried opening through the Chief X13 "Open Plan" option that is offered at start up. 2. I tried opening through my local copies stored on my hard drive by double clicking on the file. 2. I tried opening through a plan downloaded to my desktop that was not syncing to Google Drive. 3. I tried opening through Google Drive as I've done for years (and yes, I know that is not the preferred method and I will no longer be working that way - I will be downloading). 4. My issues started after upgrading to the newer version of X13 and upgrading to Big Sur. 5. My error messages referenced Catalina. 6. Very rarely I could open a plan without issues, but 99% of the time there were errors and crashes. 7. Uninstalling X13, rebooting, and installing the older version of X13 has been the solution for my computer and for the other designer in my office. My husband was in software development for many years so I know how challenging it is to fix bugs. I am incredibly appreciative of all the manpower it took behind the scenes to figure this out - thank you!!
  12. Carrie at the help desk and Scott Harris found a fix for my issues. They had me uninstall X13, reboot, and install the previous version of X13. So far so good! Thank you all for your suggestions. Chieftalk and everyone working at Chief Architect are amazing at finding solutions!
  13. Carrie at the help desk and Scott Harris figured out a fix for my issues. They had me uninstall X13, reboot, and install the previous version of X13. So far so good and no need for me to go back to X12.
  14. Although I should be able to just go into the X12 archives and open the last file saved in there and then update it...
  15. Chopsaw -An X12 version of the plans I've brought forward and in the X13 archive would be incredible! I've been in the X13 Archive folder and see the files I've worked on, but I do not see a date of migration added to the end of any file name. Could I ask a huge favor and have you post a screen shot of one of yours that has migrated so I know what I'm looking for? Thank you!!
  16. Hi Graeme, I'll figure it out somehow and I'll never move into a new version without some kind of backups. Life lesson! Susan
  17. None of our Macs can open a plan without receiving a never ending loop of error messages and then a crash. I have another thread going on Chief Talk regarding the error messages and an open ticket at the help desk. The other designer in our office spent an hour on the phone with the help desk this afternoon, but still no relief from the error messages. I would like to get back to X12 just so we can get some work done.
  18. The first thing I had tried was the cut and paste option, but no luck. Tried opening the plan in X12, no luck. That leaves going into the archives and rebuilding part of the plan. Thanks.
  19. I know I should have backed up all of my files before installing X13, but in 11 years of working in Chief, I've never been brought to a complete standstill by a new release. By any chance is there a work around that will allow me to take a plan that I created in X12, worked on and saved in X13, and want to take back to X12? Thank you!
  20. This fix seems to have cleared up our black boxes problem: While you have your plan open, clear your printer by doing the following: File / Print / Clear printer info
  21. Greg, Thank you for the suggestions and the explanation. 1. I receive the error message loop and crash if I'm plugged in or not plugged in. 2. I have tested plans with the automatic graphics switching "on" and also tried turning it "off". I still receive error messages (and crash) and it is not always the same error message. Rarely there is no error message at all. 3. If I reboot, I can usually get into a file with no issues, but that only lasts for a short time before requiring another reboot. Susan
