  1. I think it is possible to accomplish most of what you are asking, but it would be very helpful if you could post a photo or a quick sketch to be sure.
  2. Richard, The description of how you have DropBox set up sounds very similar to how I work with Google Drive. I have access to GD on the web, but I also store a copy locally on my computer. I access the local copy and it syncs up transparently when I am on the internet. What led me to make some changes were the following: 1. A Google Hangout while working on Chief with myself and one other person works fine, but with myself and 2 other people viewing, Chief freezes up. Now I download the file to the desktop before beginning the Google Hangout and upload it again after we are done. 2. Recently 2 files have gone missing. I am able to see them if I enter GD through the web portal and type in the search box, but I am not able to see them in the file they should be located in. Perhaps a subtle issue with permissions. 3. After upgrading to X10 I am not able to open a file if it was created on one of the other computers in our office. I must go to the computer it was created on, open the file, and save it to be read by X10 and then all 3 computers can see it. I haven't determined if this is a Google Drive issue or a Chief issue or both. Susan
  3. I agree! I'm also very grateful to have access to this forum!
  4. Thank you all for sharing your info. I work in a small firm and we have 3 Mac computers with Chief and 2 designers who draft. All files are stored on Google Drive. Only one person works at a time on a file and we've been working directly off of Google Drive for several years with no issues (yes, I know this is not the prescribed method, but the manual download and upload is a pain). Just in the past 6 months I've had odd little things happening with GD and Chief which has led me to rethink how I want to manage all of our files. 1. A couple of you mentioned Drop Box and not having to download / upload. How is it different to store files on Drop Box and work on them without downloading and uploading? Does DB work differently from other cloud services? 2. Is Microsoft One Drive compatible with Mac? Thanks, Susan
  5. I would love to hear how other Chief users work off the Cloud. Chief recommends downloading the file, working on it, and uploading it again. Do you simply download it to your desktop to work on it? How do you label your folders? Tips for file management? Do you use the "File / Backup entire plan" option? Best, Susan
  6. I just leave my old copies on my Mac and have not had any issues.
  7. Hi, After attending Chief Academy last week I am motivated to start using the 3d Viewer and the 360 Panorama. Is it correct that I can only export a standard color model to the 3d Viewer? The 360 Panorama lets me export a variety of views from ray traces down to line drawings and I was surprised to find that I cannot figure out how to do the same for the 3d Viewer. Of course, I could be missing something obvious! Thanks, Susan
  8. Hi, There is a forum dedicated to Home Designer that might be more helpful for you than this forum since you are working in Home Designer. Please see attached screen shot for location. Good luck!
  9. Thank you Mark! I knew you would have a suggestion and I appreciate your sharing. I've been watching Scott Harris's videos on the CKBD exam and I've downloaded the templates he created. I've even emailed with Scott, but I needed a visual to figure out how to simplify the cabinet schedule down to something that would look like the format needed on the exam - so thank you! Susan
  10. Hi, Has anyone used the NKBA / CKBD templates in Chief to take the CKBD exam? More specifically I was wondering if anyone has found an efficient way to create the "Specifications List" that is required on the main floorplan. I would like to have that linked to the cabinets so it would update automatically when changes are made. Thanks, Susan
  11. Wow, thank you guys for contacting Carrie and Sue! Subzero is a great company and customer service is very important to them. My boss and my Subzero distributor are in Madison, WI at SubZero headquarters this week. If you haven't yet written a quick email, please do so now, even if you did so several months ago. They need and want to hear from ALL of us so please speak up while I have contacts there onsite - this is a wonderful opportunity to get these catalogs for Chief. Thanks! marketingideas@subzero.com
  12. Hi Mark,

Thank you so much for sending in the great email to Subzero.

To be honest, I've been using your symbols!  and the remaining symbols I need I pull out of the existing Chief catalogs and put up with the fact that there are some differences in the look of the product.  I tried downloading Subzero / Wolf symbols off the Subzero site, but it is such a time intensive process and annoying that they all come in at the wrong size, that I decided to put my efforts towards getting Subzero to share their 3d files with Chief so we could all have easy access to a Chief catalog of their products.

Thank you again for your help!

  13. Thank you all for sending a short email to Subzero and please keep them coming, even if you sent one several months ago. Subzero needs to hear from all of us if this is going to work. My boss is a great communicator and if he has your emails to refer to he will have a much better chance of moving this project forward when he is at Subzero headquarters next week. marketingideas@subzero.com Thanks! Susan
  14. My error! Wolf is not included in the address. Correct address: Marketingideas@subzero.com
  15. Update: I've been working with Jenna Sorenson at Chief, my SubZero / Wolf distributor, and SubZero / Wolf marketing department to get these catalogs added to Chief. The holdup is that only 19 Chief users wrote in and requested SubZero / Wolf catalogs be included in Chief. I know the are many more than 19 of us who want these catalogs! My boss and our Subzero distributor will be at Subzero / Wolf headquarters next week for a conference and they would like to be able to show Subzero there is great interest from Chief users. Even if you sent one before, please send a quick email letting Subzero know you are interested in seeing their catalogs in the Chief Library. The marketing department at Subzero / Wolf monitors this email address daily: marketingideas@subzero.com Thanks!
  16. Hi,

Any more success with the 3d printing?  I'm finally getting ready to purchase a printer and have been searching for information on Chief's site on this subject.  What format did you use to export the design to the printer?

    Susan

  17. Thanks for the suggestions. I went ahead and deleted the shelves in all cabinets in my template. Sounds like this is a bug that everyone works around.
  18. I'm sure someone must have discussed this before as it has been a problem for awhile, but I cannot seem to locate any threads. When I create a line drawing or a technical illustration, I often see the shelves inside the cabinets. Is this a bug? Short of setting up my template with cabinets with no shelves, is there a way to fix this or am I missing something obvious? Thanks!
  19. Wow Jon! Thank you so much for the instructions. I will give it a try - although I'm not sold on the "So simple, even I can do it" comment. Someday maybe one of us can talk you into a GTM on that technique. Thank you again!
  20. Jon, Beautiful rendering! Can you tell us what technique you used? Thanks, Susan
  21. Thank you Mark and Scott for hosting today. The seminar was very helpful.
  22. Yes, I could just change the color of the knobs on the range to give me a similar look, but what I really want is the rest of their library: the steam oven, the microwaves, the coffee machine, the wall ovens, the ranges, the Subzeros. I use these items all the time and I just want to make my life easier!
  23. Wow!! The Chief community is amazing!! Thank you so much for sending in emails to Subzero requesting their catalogs for Chief. My contact there is completely blown away by the number of emails that have come in so far and told me that our responses are just what they need to hear. If you haven't yet had a chance, please send a quick note to SubZero to let them know you are a Chief user and would like to see Subzero / Wolf catalogs in Chief. Thanks! marketingideas@subzero.com
  24. Hi, I was the one who posted on the Q & A forum regarding the SubZero / Wolf catalogs. I am in contact with both Subzero and Chief and Subzero needs to see a strong interest from Chief users before they will move forward. If you are interested in seeing Subzero / Wolf catalogs included in Chief's library, please send a quick email and let them know you are a Chief user who would like to see Subzero / Wolf catalogs in Chief Architect. Thanks! marketingideas@subzero.com
