  1. A real simple set of stairs...... I built the auto stairwell..... and I get the rails at the top of stairs screwing up..... really? still? NYSTIE_1b_screwy_stairs.plan
  2. This will blow you away...... whether the mirror material works or not depends on the thickness of the slab, psolid, countertop etc..... play around with different thicknesses, you will find somewhere around 8"-14" thick the reflective material will disappear.
  3. Eric, you might be onto something. Maybe it has something to do will cabinets. I could not paint the soffit a mirror material. Maybe somebody from CA will clarify the issue.
  4. I have seen that behavior before...... I think it has something to do with how the cabinet symbol was initially built. Using psolids vs moldings vs slabs vs something...... I can't quite put my finger on it but I have seen the behavior before. Post the small plan so we can check it out. Thanks
  5. Mark, I would love to attend but as of now, that is something I would not use. But I do thank You for what you are doing and hopefully you can help CA take businesss away from you know who.
  6. My system is very similar. Once in awhile I get a nutty job where I have more than one layout, and too too many different plan files but that is the exception. with this system I can tell what was going on at a particular stage. \\
  7. FYI, I think I figured it out. If you like the shaded window glass, in vector mode do not check opaque glazing. The down side is you can see into the house. I think it might also slow things down.
  8. I can't figure it out..... I must leave now..... but look at these elevations.... sometimes the window is filled sometimes not, and the really weird one is the one that has the great window and the window is open.... can you have a window open in 3d?
  9. Perry, you might be onto something.... I am still trying to figure it out. Do you get a grey fill for your windows?
  10. WOW, I am not sure what I am doing.....look at these two elevations.... note the Rear Elevation windows are WHITE and the left elevation windows are GRAY.... how did I do that? I like the grey... but what did I do to get that?
  11. Here is a weird one, I can see through the window and see the bedroom door. Not sure if I have ever seen this before.
  12. I tried that in the defaults and I also tried it for the staircase DBX, it did not work for me. The shift selection worked for me.
  13. I faked it by creating a symbol of stairs in a cloned stripped plan and then placing the symbol in my plan that I sent to layout......so I could get a half decent rendering........ so no....... I did not figure it out and the stair tools can be esssentially useless in most of my typical stair con figs.
  14. Wow, I have recently noticed the same funny stuff going on. I was doing a GTM with Glenn Woodward and I think he will vouch for this. Right side elevation, house on slab, I could not see BASE of a/c condenser on other side of house because slab was there, next time the slab was not there so I could then see base of a/c condenser on other side of house. if I see it again I will post pics...... Cait, are you on a MAC?
  15. Here is the explanation...... stairs are soooooo screwed up and limiting that I do my best to keep it simple. Very rarely do I have to mess with this crappy stair implementation. I know everybody else has complained about the stairs, but now it is my turn. I have been futzing with this stupid stairs for over an hour.... why can't we put a rail on a wall that follows the stairs. We have been asking for this nonsense for 12 years, and it is still a huge hack job. I am so frustrated at this point... will somebody at headquarters please make a concerted effort to make stairs more user friendly. Pleeeeaaaaaasssse!
  16. I know it is possible, but I forgot.... How to remove railing on only one section of stairs
  17. chop, I was guessing it was possible, I could not make it work...
  18. Wha5 about the wall hatch tool. Once the hatch patten is 5here, you can change the fill. inhav3 not tested.

    slabs

Of course the next question is..... make sure what layer is on?
  20. I would consider the CA on line tutoring.
