Hi Glenn, I will be in the office until 11:00 PST. If you are available, I could do a GTM, just let me know. I will try to get in office early tomorrow morning, maybe 4:00 am PST, that will be 9:00 pm your time, no guarantees.

Okay, I did the video. Over an hour long. Skip to the end if you want to see what I would like to see.

Walls/Railing Workshop Tuesday, April 24rth at 3:00 PM PST

Glenn, building the walls like that are very limiting. I think the best method to date is the panel system and then creating the custom panel symbols. Over all, probably a relatively quick solution with the most control to date. -
I thought the same thing, but after getting into them, I love them. However, they can be improved on... but who cares, but the time they improve them I will be retired sailing to the south pacific. I started to do a vid, but I do not have the energy, if I ever get the energy I will do a vid.

Here is a question. If I want the top of my retaining wall to be 50’ above sea level, irregardless of what the house elevation is, how do I do that? understand that I may want to raise my house up 2’-0” from 51’ to 53’. But I want the retaining wall to stay at 50’. IOW, I would like to be able to set the top of retaining wall relative to MSL not necessarily to absolute zero.

SOLVED - X10 Crash: Elevations on Multiple Monitors

My MAC has issues with having layout open as well as elevations. I have reported it but no fix yet. Sometimes I need to force quit but often times I have to wait 10-15 seconds for the MAC to wake up. -
I use midspan bearing trusses very very very rarely. It is typically not necessary. As far as brace lateral walls every 25' , that is if the prescriptive method is being used. Since every project I do (99.997%) need to be engineered, I do not need to abide by the perspective method.

Nice job Glenn.... are they walls or fences? I am assuming wall since you have a footing. I am assuming they do not follow terrain (or not a stepped fence) (since it it a wall and not a fence) I am assuming they were all edited in elevation BTW, I am really getting into the auto story pole. I wish we could adjust the height of walls (particularly retaining and site walls ) in plan view in lieu of editing in elevation. In this project, I needed to adjust the top and bottom of wall to a specific height relative to sea level. I AND AND AND , I wish we could adjust the height of the walls 2 ways 1- relative to the first floor (0.0) 2- relative to M.S.L. -
this might be clearer

You cited a reason why you would want two materials,. The reason I wanted to do it yesterday is we were trying to do a work around..... it was Richard Morrison's idea .... using the footing as CMU and having it go into the terrain.. -

I found it very interesting that we could not change the FOOTING MATERIAL. I suppose somewhere in the defaults it can be changed, but that would CHANGE ALL FOOTINGS. So if you wanted 2 DIFFERENT FOOTING MATERIALS for two different walls, it is not possible. -

Thanks to all that attended and a big thanks to Glenn for presenting and to Steve for the wall solution I was after. Here is the vid. 2 hours long, probably tough to watch, better to just listen for any highlights, always better to be there. -
