  1. The secret is, do not put a hole in the ceiling, instead shape the ceiling plane around where the hole in the ceiling needs to be and then when the ceiling plane overlaps itself, the hole is created. You can copy that dormer roof and roof hole and ceiling hole to make another dormer....... .... but it won't work if you try to do the shaped hole again..... once the shaped ceiling plane method is used, you do not need to do it again.... weird.
  2. very interesting...... I wanted to do another..... I was able to do it but there is a secret steve nestor dormer_scissor truss AND ANOTHER AND ANOTHER.plan
  3. Well....... I was able to do it again..... do you know what the secret is? I ain't gunna say....... well.... I will give you a few hours to see if anybody else can figure it out and then I will share the secret. steve nestor dormer_scissor truss AND ANOTHER.plan
  4. Steve and I were talking about this yesterday. I actually was able to do it with 2 dormers on one roof. However I could not get it perfect on the other roof plane. See picture for the imperfection. Plan attached. steve nestor dormer:scissor truss test 1.plansteve nestor dormer:scissor truss test 1.plan
  5. Try going to the structure tab and deselect ROOF HAS ROOF.
  6. I use polyline solids drawn in either plan view or elevation and then it is best to convert those to symbols especially if you have decorative ends.
  7. You cannot export but you can import which is what we want. Nice feature by CA.
  8. Hi Guys, Can we export SAVED PLAN VIEWS? It seems as if I did this recently and now I cannot find it. Thanks
  9. Nope, I use them over and over and I even create more as I need them.
  10. We might all be talking about the same thing, one click and I am working on electric plan, one click I am working on foundation plan. This is what I did with Anno Sets. This is what I use..... The "P" which is called the SAVED PLAN VIEW CONTROL.
  11. I would use a second floor to show the. clerestory windows. I would probably put the roof on level 2, I would probably put electrical on level 2 and use ref layer to show elec at first floor. The. house is a two story.
  12. I see this occasionally and have never taken the time to figure out the cause. Anybody have any ideas?
  13. Does that mean I am the big winner? Winner Winner Chicken Dinner! Thanks Rob for verifying.
  14. Perry, when you send to layout using LIVE VIEW your cannot control line weights via layer set. If you send PLOT LINES with color fill, you can control line weights with layer.
  15. Hi Rob, I am not sure you are correct..... but I am not sure I am correct. I did a test, sent a LIVE VIEW and a PLOT LINE VIEW to layout with super heavy line weights for a particular layer, and in layout they were super heavy (but one was super heavier than the other), but when I went to print to PDFS, the LIVE VIEW was not heavy any more. Did you test it? The first pic is a screen shot of the LAYOUT, The second pic is a screen shot of the PDF. Note there is no heavy line at the building on the left. (BTW, is a layer called WALL,PARAPET that has the super heavy line. Let's take a vote, who believes me and who believes Rob?
  16. Yep, I think that is the answer, PLOT LINES because you can control line weights whereas with LIVE VIEW the line weights cannot be control by layer set. Nuts, I was hoping the answer was LIVE VIEW because it seems so much faster.
  17. You have a point. Back in the day that kind of stuff was rampant, these days. not so bad. These days I live with it... benefits outweigh the downside for me.
  18. Hmmmm..... even if UPDATE ON DEMAND is selected and not UPDATE ALWAYS being selected?
  19. exactly, color is awesome..... so you use plot lines with color fill because it looks better on monitor, I get it. an advantage of LIVE VIEW (if you can get past blurriness on screen) is it updates much much faster. Yews Larry, plot lines update when you ask all views to be updated.
  20. Do you use LIVE VIEW or PLOT LINES? What do you think the upside or downside is of each method?
