Is content in libraries disabled during the trial version?
Chopsaw replied to Ghost261's topic in General Q & A
Deselect "Use Floor Defaults" > "Add New" from library > then use the dropdown to set to Chair Rail. Might make more sense once you download the libraries I guess. -
Displaying Only Addition Studs in Plan View
Chopsaw replied to ClarkeThrasher's topic in General Q & A
You should be able to get them all in a swipe or two using Shift select to marquee as many as possible while the General Framing tool is activated. -
It appears your roof ridge has no ridge caps which is a sign that it is not properly connected, so check that and it may fix the fascia.

Yes that is something that actually does work automatically. You just need to be sure and use the Layout Page Labels. Does that work automatically ? Which PDF viewer.

Unwanted Layers Flashing through during Walkthrough?
Chopsaw replied to alexpwalsh's topic in General Q & A
There is an Edit Area (All Floors) option in the dropdown that should work for you. Also check your shingle thickness. I think the default is 1/8" but it really should be 1/4" and will render better that way. -
Unfortunate but true.

Give it a try. That tool is not quite versatile enough for a job like this but it would be great if it was. Niche is closer but still not right.

Wall Material Regions To create a Wall Material Region, select Build> Wall> Material Region. Wall Material Regions are drawn on the vertical surface of a wall and are always drawn in camera or elevation views. If you create one by clicking once, it will cut around doors, windows, and fireplaces but will otherwise fill the entire surface of the parent wall. Wall Material Regions set to cut the finish layers of their parent object will replace the layers of the wall between itself and the wall’s Main Layer with its own layers. See Wall Type Definitions.

Have you tried a wall material region ?

I think X13 will have the beginnings of one, or you can use the materials list but be careful when it comes to flashing as I believe there are some issues in X12 with some roof designs. Otherwise a manual takeoff or some really complex ruby coding.

Try drawing a bookcase and making it into a door symbol or just a bookcase with a doorway behind it. But unfortunately it is not a secret now !

Trapezoid windows in upper portion of ballon framed wall
Chopsaw replied to johnbds's topic in General Q & A
You can set those windows to use an Absolute elevation reference and place them in another wall on another level or in the attic or even the basement. The attic is usually the best option and then change your wall type to a room divider. -
View > Scrollbars should fix it for you.

Maybe you don't want to change the angle. How does the transition work out ? There are all kinds of problems that need to be worked out in chief and real life when angles are involved.
-
That is the way we need Chief to feel not you Scott. See my revised first posting.

It is actually live but the material needs to be glass.
-
Completely invisible in vector view is a material we have been waiting for and made many requests for. It exists but we need access to it.

If you would rather not convert to a symbol you can unblock and convert back to a Plain Polyline then cut and paste to elevation view and convert back to psolid and set depth.
-
Copy and past into an elevation view and then go back to plan view and rotate if necessary maybe ?? Not perfectly cleat on what you are up to really.

There still seems to be an issue in that the soffit protrusions don't seem to be equal and then in the glass house view the roof planes that they stick through don't appear to be the same thickness. Oddly the one that sticks through the most has the thicker appearing roof plane. Is that all just an illusion ?

I just wanted to be sure you are taking about separate plan views and not separate plan files ? If it is plan views maybe we answered your question already but if it is plan files it seems there may be a mystery here.

If you don't get a quick answer on the other question you may want to participate in todays webinar. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/events/

Each window has the option under the "Schedule" tab to include in Schedule or not.

Monolithic foundation adding to total square footage
Chopsaw replied to 5Design's topic in General Q & A
Thanks, Chopsaw. It's a custom schedule. I think it has something to do with the 1st floor room structure. I don't really care about having the foundation, but if I don't it doesn't show a brick ledge. My goofy browser doesn't want to upload the file... A custom Chief Architect schedule or a macro driven schedule ? There is a bit of a bug in X12 with monoslab foundations that they are working on. You can set the room structure to have a monoslab if you don't care about the foundation plan and not build by the defaults, then the calculations should come out ok. Possibly it will be fixed in X13.... We will have to see. You need to be sure to save the plan file and close it before uploading. It also needs to be under 25 MB so sometimes you can zip it and make that work or upload to your cloud service and post the link to download.
