  1. In addition, you should post this in the Q&A Forum, not in "Tips & Techniques".
  2. My problem with that solution is that in the USA it labels a 60"w x 40"t window 5034. That would be OK if the inches (0 & 4) were in superscript - but they aren't. This brings up the possibility that a 50" x 34" in window might be ordered instead of a 5'0" x 3'4" window..
  3. Diane, It won't work if you are using the Window Callout for the Label. That's specified in the Schedule and it over-rides any text Label.
  4. Default Labels only apply to new Doors and Windows. To change the existing Labels, you can use "Match Properties"
  5. Personally, I wouldn't use a "Pony Wall" for this condition. If you want that Thickened Band at the top of the Room either use "Soffits" or a custom "Crown Molding".
  6. Transform Replicate will do it. Create a point at the center of the round object Select Object to be copied Select Transform Replicate Set number of copies and angle (increment angle per copy) Select Rotate (about Current Point) OK You might need to play with the numbers to get the right incremental settings.
  7. X10 allows the Layout Box to be "shaped" the same as any other PLine. That's why the resize doesn't work the same as it did before - unless you change the setting in Preference for that functionality. I think there's also a Toolbar Button that can be used.
  8. Why not just set the baluster spacing in the railing dbx? Otherwise, you could use a "Distribution Path". That tool has some more sophisticated spacing techniques.
  9. Try making it out of Primitive Solid Boxes and then cutting away what you don't want with other solids rotated and positioned as needed using the "Solid Subtraction Tool.
  10. Yep, I have all Architectural sheet sizes in a single Layout Template. Change the Layer Set and the Page size and it's done. In fact, I created a Arch-D2 (24"x42") for a job I'm working on. Print companies use roll paper, so custom sheet sizes are possible.
  11. I would use Copy/Paste from the new Template to the old Template. Open the new Template Select Page 0 Unlock and display all Layers Marquee Select the entire Page Close the new Template Open the old Template Select Page 0 Unlock and display all Layers Paste Save the Template That should do it.
  12. Hi Johnny, That pic shows the Toolbars for the Layout. The Toolbars for Plan are different. I don't do much editing in Layout. Positioning and sizing of the Layout Boxes is just about the limit of the work I do there. Almost everything is done in the Plan. If you are losing display of Toolbars I would suggest checking the Video Card setup and drivers. You might also check the AV Software but I don't think that should have any effect. IAE, I have not experienced any such problems. Are you on a MAC? I personally
  13. When Chief creates a Foundation Plan it names the areas as "Rooms" of the type directly above. Obviously, this is non-sense so I created a new Room Type (copy of Slab) which I named: 4" Concrete Slab Then I edited all the foundation areas to that room type. Then I added the attached macro room_label.json to the Default Room Label. Now those areas of the Foundaton Plan are automatically labeled: 4" Concrete Slab with 6/6 10/10 WWF over 6 mil Visqueen Membrane over 4" Sand Base The macro recognizes the room is a Slab. Of course that's what I use for a Mono-Slab Foundation. For Built-up Foundations I just use a Room Type: Crawl Space
  14. No. There is insufficient data available.
  15. I have a similar condition that I created as a mulled unit. It might be the reverse of yours but that shouldn't be a problem. It's similar to NanaWall. It's intended to swing out. Panoramic Door - 4 Panel.calibz Hope this helps. Joe
  16. Since this is the Tips & Techniques Forum..... I think it's a TIP
  17. How do you handle the sizing of headers in Non-Bearing Walls? I use the depths set in the Framing Defaults for Bearing Walls, but that's generally overkill in Non-Bearing Walls. It would be nice if there was a separate set of Defaults. btw, I still want to be able to display the new Chief Headers as a single line (my choice of Linestyle, Line_Weight & Color). The current "filled full width display" is very annoying.
  18. Either use the comments field to indicate "double 30x80 door" or create a custom field in the OIP.
  19. You should post your questions on HomeTalk rather than ChiefTalk. There are differences in the software and you would probably get a better answer there.
  20. Steve, Yes, a separate Plan View for each floor for each discipline. I've even broken it down for framing to Floor, Ceiling, Rafters and Trusses. Electrical could be broken into Power and Lighting. It really just depends on how finely you want to show things in the Layout. I also have a Roof Plan View for each Floor Level - not always needed depending on the design but it's nice when it is needed. One of the really nice parts of this is that whatever name you give the Plan View in the Project Browser is what the %view_name% macro will display. That makes naming your views to be sent to Layout much easier. IOW, put that macro in a Text Box on each Floor Level and when you switch Plan Views the title will change accordingly.
  21. pSolids will only union when in the same plane. Solids are more flexible.
  22. Was that available in Beta? I had requested that ability but wasn't aware it was available. btw, editing the bounding box and the 3d origin values provides a very accurate rectangular wall cutout.
  23. Michael, How do you access this "Wall Cutout Polyline" to edit its shape? I've found no way to do that. The only way I've found to change the cutout size is to change the size of the Bounding Box but that doesn't change the shape.
  24. Callout Text is hard-coded to the Schedule Number. It's possible to do a macro for the text, but not in the Callout.
