Nicole, You should be able to get a Loaded ASUS 17" Laptop and a Targus carrying case for about $1800.00 or even less.
-
The ASUS 17" G74 series works very nicely. It's not a light machine but it works really well.

I've changed my procedure for Floor Finishes. My Default is no Finish Floor. Then I add Floor Material Regions in each room. They are on Layer "Material Regions" so I can have "Floor Surfaces" displayed (the Slab Floor Structure). I like this procedure for my Floors because I can create much more flexible finish flooring layouts. My Entire Structure starts out with a "Framed Floor" which can be a 4" concrete Slab - which can even have gravel and a membrane under it. I thought this might be more work - but I was having to go into each room and change the flooring anyway since the default never seems to match most of the rooms. BTW, this allows me to change the material in a large room without having an "invisible wall".

Just select the entire area (use a marquee selection box) and click on the "Block" icon.
-
Create a Block of the Imported Detail. The Block can be saved to the Library.

Try exporting from X6 and importing into X7. Actually, if you had them in your X6 Library they should have transferred along with the rest of your X6 Library.

Hello, Corner Windows Have Appeared... Sort Of....
Joe_Carrick replied to dshall's topic in General Q & A
There are a couple of keys to the corner window: 1. Set each window to have no frame. 2. In the Framing Tab, set the trimmers to 0, set the RO gaps (or whatever their called) to 0 3. Grab the window in Plan and slide away from the corner and then back to the corner firmly. Do with both windows. 4. Set the Casings Off (both interior & Exterior I think that's pretty much it. I prefer to use a Pass Thru and then add a Molding Polyline (2 segments) with 3 moldings (one for bottom frame, one for top frame & one for glass). Then I add a couple of solids for the vertical frame members. If you save the Molding Polyline & Solids to the Library you won't have to define them again in the future. -
They can be exported and then imported to your new Template/Plan.
-
I think I said that in post #2 and again in post #8.
-
Here's an example: I created the Exterior Room Molding Polyline at +48" and used a 3"x8" Edge Molding (uncheck Extrude Inside Polyline)
-
No, there is an exterior room (just outside the exterior walls) the Chief automatically recognizes. Just click about 6-12" outside the building and then click on the "Room Molding Polyline" icon.
-
Try again, but set the height of the molding polyline so that it will be within the windows ( in the US I use 48" as the height )
-
Exterior Room Molding Polyline at the desired height. You have to define it at that height as it's being created, but that will automatically break at all openings that it passes thru and the moldings will skip the openings.

Why We Have So Many Questions On These Forums

FWIW, I use Floor 0 for Foundations & Floor 1 for Basements (if there's a Full or even a Partial Basement). -

Exactly! "Ceiling Height" makes absolutely no sense in the Foundation. IAE, an expanded Dialog with multiple floors (maybe vertical scroll would be appropriate) showing the entire structure in section with heights that could be edited. Let's start thinking of a better way to portray this info and edit it. -

Doug, For the Foundation Level, the Room Structure Dialog needs to have different names for the fields. -
Make Folders & Sub-Folders in your User Library. Then put things in those Folders for navigation purposes.

AFAIK, "Snap to Midpoint" of a wall is only relative to the length of the wall, not the thickness. You can draw a line and then "Center" it on the wall thickness using the "Center" Tool on the Edit Toolbar.

One of the things about Schedules in X6 & beyond is that the lines of the Schedules can be rearranged, thus changing the numbers.

Covering A Wall With Tile (Or Any Material)
Joe_Carrick replied to Joe_Carrick's topic in General Q & A
After a little further testing, the Materials do show in the "Total" Material List. The place they don't show is in the "Room" Material List. -
Covering A Wall With Tile (Or Any Material)
Joe_Carrick replied to Joe_Carrick's topic in General Q & A
Usually that would be because there isn't a Pattern set for the Material Definition. Open each of those materials and check both the Texture and the Pattern settings. I think you'll then understand. -
The problem is probably just that you don't have "Line Weights" turned on. There's an icon on the toolbar (on my screen that toolbar is on the right side. You can also access it in the "View" drop down menu. When Line Weights are "ON" the Door and Jamb and the arc will be displayed in the color and weight specified for "Doors" in your Layer Set.

RC, You need to post your Plan and probably your Layout as well. We can't help without being able to see what you've done.

Larry, Check your Foundation Defaults. How thick is the Footing? Also, make sure you have a defined terrain. -
Covering A Wall With Tile (Or Any Material)
Joe_Carrick replied to Joe_Carrick's topic in General Q & A
One problem with this. It doesn't show in the Material List for the Room or in the Room Finish Schedule. That's IMO a serious bug.
