I did find the "Search, All Content, Members" where I can enter all or part of a name. That works pretty well but I suspect that most users won't know it's there.

Super Large Icons are way to difficult to use as a user browser. I'll check the search function and see how that works.

Dan, I see several categories all under the "Moderators" banner. Members Administrators Chief Sales But I don't see any position titles and there are many staff members not listed. Chris, Doug, Dermot, Ryan, Greg, Adrean, Kirk, etc. Most of those post on Chieftalk - some more than others. I understand that there are some who would not want to be directly contacted but sometimes it's nice to be able to send a PM rather than an open thread.

Hi Dan, I just noticed that the "Staff" section only lists "Moderators". Is there a reason that other staff is not in that list?

I'm attaching some files for testing purposes. No problem with relatively small files - I generally don't try to attach anything more than about 10-12 MB so someone else can test larger plans. CAD Block Template.plan DOORWAY RULES.pdf

Dan, I see the "Staff List" and the "Online Users" but I don't see a complete list of Users. We had an alphabetical listing before of all users so we could PM anyone. Also I notice that after "Location" there's no space. IOW LocationRathburn, ID would look better as Location: Rathburn, ID

Hi Dan, For the most part I like it. I think posting replies is a little better - particularly the ability to drag files to attach. OTOH, I miss the ability to find CT Users. Maybe I just don't know where that's located.

So Michael, I agree that referenced macros are not very good in Elevations but I have used them to call out various items in Sections (framing, etc.). For anything actually cut by a section, it works pretty good. For anything shown in "Elevation" it doesn't work. btw, what is your reason for wanting to use a "reference macro" on a line in an elevation view?

In an elevation view, when you select a wall, Chief creates a "Temporary Wall Polyline" for editing purposes. Leader lines can't connect to this object because it doesn't exist as a part of the model.

I can categorically state that referenced macros do work in Elevation Views. But it depends on the object. It works with closed Polylines but you have to make sure you actually have a connection.

What are you trying to connect to? If you're trying to connect to a wall - it's most likely that you are actually getting the "Exterior Room".

Create the railing as a stand-alone railing wall, "No Room Definition", "Follows Stairs". Then drag it into place on the Stairs. It should work - but I haven't tested it in X6.

Only by editing the Layout Lines.

Use a Library Panel

I would just show the Upper Wall - but select the Exterior Room and create a Room Molding Polyline. It will display as a single line (no fill) at the face of the Pony Wall. Not ideal, but it works for me.

There's a checkbox in the Defaults>Camera>3D Views for "Restrict Floor Camera to Room" - but I don't think it works.

Manual Dimensions in Elevations and Sections works pretty well - Basically like the Story Pole.

Michael, What object did you use for the Point Markers to get the attributes?

Alan, The problem with using the Edit Handles to delete is that there are often more than one such dimension extensions at a given location so you have to do it repeatedly. Otherwise it works.

There are also places to add text for the individual markers by selecting the "Segments" Tab

Alan, It may be possible to use macros to do this but the way Chief has implemented Ruby it's doubtful. There's no facility other than Global Ruby Variables to store user input. The problem is that there are no attributes attached to the individual markers from which to get the elevation data. The Story Pole allows modification of the text - and it will read a valid macro - but there's just nothing to get data from.

Copy to your user Library. You can change the Layer there. Then you just select from that Library location

For Plan, Elevation, Section and CAD Details, there is a Reference Grid and a Snap Grid that can be set in "Plan Defaults". The can be toggled on/off with Icons on the "Toggle Modes Toolbar".

There isn't any "Barn Door" in the Door dbx. You have to use a "Library Door" with the y-origin offset about -4". This will then show in 3D as "Surface Mounted" instead of as a "Pocket". I wasn't aware that reversing the wall layers would make such a door switch sides. It still doesn't solve the display problem in the Plan View - since it still displays as a "Pocket Door". Editing the Description in the Components Dialog can allow that to be changed in the Door Schedule.
