  1. Barry, It would really help if you were to attach a plan and layout or at least give some kind of screenshot. I for one dont seem to have any problem like what you're describing. I would also suggest that perhaps you consider not placing all those notations in layout and place them in the plan instead. Once you get used to doing it that way, I really doubt you'll ever want to go back.
  2. I think when people are talking about putting a roof on its in reference to interior renderings. Many of us who do a lot of cabinetry or other interior design never build the foundation, roof, etc...only what's needed for the scenes being rendered. Your example was the opposite of most I've seen...it's usually light coming from outside in, yours is light coming from inside out.
  3. Agreed. This is a pretty major issue. I do a lot less ray traces in large part because of this one single issue. Not as much of a problem with the lower quality ray trace settings but then I start to think...whats the point?
  4. You need to first select the room and "Make Room Molding Polyline".
  5. 3 questions come to mind... 1. Does CA even support semitransparent watermarks? 2. Have you tried printing that page to see how it prints? 3. Have you tried doing a save as PDF to see if that works?
  6. It has to be in an orthographic elevation view Scott.
  7. Not really my specialty, but open an elevation and then... 1. Explode your mulled unit 2. Select your double door 3. Unload Muntins (tool in lower toolbar) 4. Select the "etched glass" section of the door (its a selectable CAD block now) 5. Copy/Paste in Positiion 6. Move copy over to second door 7. Load Muntins
  8. Posting the plan would definitely help.
  9. Can you attach the plan? Definitely looks like a ceiling. Also looks like you might be selecting the wrong room.
  10. It's the request for a 3D model that leads me to believe it's a lot more than just reading plans. Although...I guess you could be right. I suppose the 3D model may be a good method of illustrating what the 2D plans are supposed to be communicating.
  11. With all due respect, are you going to be able to teach something if you or one of your colleagues haven't or aren't able to draw it up yourself?
  12. You're probably using a smart phone or tablet and automatically being directed to the mobile site. Bottom of page...Full Version. I personally have a strong dislike for mobile sites.
  13. Definitely not an ideal solution, but you can use a rectangular polyline or box with a fill to address this. This method has the added benefit of being fully dimension-able without the use of point to point.
  14. Russ, it would be super helpful it you were to attach the plan. You will usually get a solution or answer pretty quickly and it would eliminate a lot of guesswork. Chief can be pretty finicky at times and the solution can often vary due to any number of details and dynamics (and those can totally vary from plan to plan).
  15. I used end to end dimensions (which automatically insert points when snapping to cross section lines), and then just reduced the marker radii to zero...my standard practice for point markers. You're right though. Wouldn't work for inset doors or drawers.
  16. This makes good solid sense. On a side note, not sure why I didn't notice it before now... Its not a perfect solution, but you can create an elevation flush with the cabinet face (essentially deleting the door and drawer fronts) and then set the backclip distance (essentially deleting shelves) for face frame/drawer box details.
  17. Neither do I. Try to avoid it as much as possible.
  18. Not that this won't work, but how is this different from using the point to point dimension tool and just changing the marker radius to zero? This is what I personally do whenever I have to use point to point.
  19. Are you talking about drawer openings, drawer boxes, drawer fronts, or...?
  20. Messed around with it for a bit. Not sure where it gets those default heights from. Must be some internal thing within Chief. If you go into the elevation and make that wall longer and shorter it does some strange things. Without a defined room, it must be defaulting to some internal algorithm.
  21. What the guys above said...post the plan. I would guess from what I can see though that the ceiling isn't missing. What you're seeing are parts of the roof above. I think your roof planes just need to be adjusted.
  22. I agree. Not a video card issue. It looks like one of the issues I described in my post above. Chief won't draw lines where an EDGE does not exist. This is an issue I really think needs to be fixed and something that should probably be added to the suggestion section.
