  1. What you're looking for is found under File>Print>Drawing Sheet Setup
  2. I have personally only experienced this problem when getting plans from others. I think it's a pretty well known issue though with a number of users… https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/8536-text-reformatting-itself/?hl=%2Btext+%2Bsize
  3. Samsung's SSD's come with a software that does that same thing. It's really pretty easy. You simply clone your existing drive to the SSD and then install it. OR, you can install it first and then clone it. I think I t's just a little more complicated to shuffle the drives around and change BIOS settings that way.
  4. I would just try to download the newest version. It might not run that well, but it may work well enough to take it for a short test drive. Worth a shot IMO.
  5. Aunttieem, Please don't take any offense based on my post above. It didn't come from a mean heart. I was just trying to be straight with you. You're just going to find yourself hitting dead ends on a regular basis if you can't figure out how to better communicate your problems, whether that be via better describing your issues, posting screenshots, and/or posting the plan. And I'm not sure exactly how you are using Chief or what exactly you are using it for, but there's a good chance you're going to have a hard time doing anything truly productive with your plan unless you get this whole communication thing figured out. I've seen this time and time again and simply ignoring the problem trying to be Mr. Nice Guy isn't doing anyone any good. We use this software for what? To produce plans. Why are we producing plans? To communicate with people to reach an end goal. If we can't even communicate a simple issue here on Chieftalk, how in the heck are we going to communicate complex construction details to people? And if we can't posts simple screenshots and plans, how are we ever going to be able to communicate electronically with clients, subcontractors, engineers, etc...or even take advantage of tech support. The answer is that we won't. I'm just trying to encourage people to figure out how to use the bag of tools we have at our disposal. Hope you all have a great day.
  6. Joey, I think an "a$& chewing" is an extreme overstatement. Am I wrong with what I said? I don't think so. I was legitimately trying to be helpful with my post. Your "more helpful" response was based on what? Your uneducated and uninformed guesses. Don't pretend you have any idea what is going on with the OP's plan. None of us do, and for the vast majority of problems, simple written questions are going to be of very little help to anyone...ever. You coddling isn't doing anyone any good, whereas helping a person realize the importance of learning to use the right tools could potentially open the doors for a real progress. Anyway, I'm sorry you feel that way but I don't feel bad about what I said at all.
  7. If you can't figure out or dedicate the time to figure out how to post the plan, the argument could be made that you should probably just give up entirely right now and not waste anymore of your time. Being able to post the plan (even a stripped down version) or at least posting screenshots is a near necessity if you want any help from us or from tech support, and in the big picture, if you can't do those things you're really going to have a hard time learning to do some other very basic things that will be required to get proficient at using Chief to any real usable end.
  8. I too considered that it might be related to lighting after my quick experiment rotating the model but I thought "Nah, I don't see how lighting could be removing lines". It never even occurred to me to check the line color (or shading contrast for that matter). Good job piecing this one together guys. Teamwork!
  9. Only had a chance to look at your plan very briefly but I think its one for tech support. I couldn't pin it to any of the usual suspects. In fact, if you rotate the whole plan 90 degrees, the problem rotates to the other walls. Very weird.
  10. Not posting a plan for starters. Seriously though, it's basically impossible for us to tell without seeing the plan. We could try guessing but that could take days and more often than not proves to be a waste of time.
  11. We would need to see the plan to give you an accurate answer. On a side note, the detail you are showing can very easily be done by applying a molding to the exterior room.
  12. The place to set the Plot line dimension settings is... Default Settings>CAD>General CAD What you probably changed is the Number Style (can be accessed in almost every DBX via the button in the lower left corner or under Preferences in the same place.
  13. I was just playin'. I think you might need to clarify a little.
  14. Have you tried using the Big Window tool?
  15. Here's a quick video of one method using Distributed Objects... I didn't go over it in the video, but you can rotate those distribution paths too if you want in order to get the look you're after. Make sure to do it before exploding them though.
  16. Even if your symbol does not have different materials for the different components doesn't necessarily mean all is lost. Depending on the symbol you can place it in a blank plan, apply one of your desired materials, use the delete surfaces tool, and create a new symbol. Repeat the process but for the other surfaces this time and then place both of those symbols into a blank plan perfectly aligned so that they appear to be a single item and then create a new symbol. That's the gist anyway. Won't work for every situation. Show me which symbol and maybe I'll make a quick video.
  17. Yep. One quick method to get you started... Select room, Make Room Polyline, hold down C and use one of the corner edit handles to resize, and then Convert Polyline to Material Region.
  18. I knew what you were talking about. I was talking about notes in multiple instances too. If you want to change a note and have it change everywhere else in the plan, using Replace From Library (all instances) can do the trick as well.
  19. If you are taking time to actually build a keynote library and place those into the library as Plant Symols (or whatever symbol type you're using for your keynotes), you can optionally also just use the replace from library tool to change all instances in any given plan. May not have all the benefits of using a macro but macros have their drawbacks as well.
  20. Just a thought here, but have you considered using piles or helical piers and grade beams?
  21. Newell, All you have to do is change your floor structure settings like I believe Eric did and as Scott suggested. It's very basic stuff. With all due respect, you really need to learn to use Chief better. It seems like you come here all the time with a new project and a new question, you do very little in way of participation...in fact your posts often times come across as half baked and like you don't find it important enough to even take time to properly spell out a detailed question or response or even take the time to read and comprehend the answers you're given...and when you get an answer, very rarely do you give any credit or even a sign of gratitude. More often than not you don't even respond and have in the past refused to even give credit where credit was due. It really just feels like you're churning out a ton of projects and we're doing your work for you. Kinda seems like the type of thing you should be paying someone to do for you. Anyway, I don't want to be disrespectful or sound like a jerk, it's just how you come across and I have reason to believe I'm not the only one who sees it or feels this way. I would suggest you remember that we all have jobs too and we're volunteering our time to help people. The idea is that we help each other and if you come across as a freeloader who can't even take enough time to properly participate in their own thread, your going to very quickly burn bridges.
  22. Thanks for the tip Glenn. I like that method better. Wouldn't work for exterior walls or interior walls with different layers on each side, but for standard railings and standard interior walls I'd definitely say it's superior to the wall type copy technique. You get a gold star.
  23. You could start by attaching the plan and layout.
  24. Yes, as far as "healing" is concerned I have found the method to be foolproof.
