  1. Just copy and paste the file path from the texture source... You can either copy and paste directly into the appropriate map field OR if you need to modify the jpg first then you can copy and paste the folder path into Windows File Explorer. If it's located in a zipped folder you'll probably need to leave the actual file name off the end though.
  2. I took a quick glance at the plan but don't have the time to study it much further right now. What you're seeing is definitely NOT normal Chief behaviour though. If someone doesn't figure out whats wrong here in pretty short order I would definitely suggest you report it to tech support.
  3. Hey Peter, I never actually use wall elevation cameras so I hadn't noticed this problem before but you appear to be absolutely correct. They aren't working the same as they used to and I can easily reproduce your issue. I would recommend you report this to tech support. In the meantime, it looks like the problem is that the program needs a defined edge there in order to draw anything. There are a few workarounds that might hold you over until Chief fixes the issue... 1. If it happens at an outside corner, use the Edit Wall Layer Intersections tool to drag the drywall layer on the wall being viewed back so that its not being flush with the inside face of the adjacent wall and not being beveled or tucked behind. This drywall edge will then produce a line. 2. If it's not at an outside corner you can place a break and do the same as above... 3. You can assign a Wall Covering to the wall that is the same material as your interior wall finish and covering the entire wall. 4. Same as above but you can assign that Wall Covering to the entire room. 5. Click on the Wall Material Region Tool, click once on the wall, set that material region to Cut Finish Layers Of Parent Object, and assign the same material as your wall finish except make it like 1/64" thicker. 6. Or of course you can just draw them in manually. The problem really needs to be reported and addressed but in the meantime hopefully one of the above will work for you. Any one of them should cause those lines to draw... Hope that helps.
  4. If you want a solution you should really post a plan (even a stripped down version). It could be a material setting, it could be a layer setting, it could be a layer set setting, etc.
  5. Just a wild guess here but do you have retain wall framing checked on one or more of those walls? If so, the original wall is just obeying what you told it to do and one or more of the auto framed walls are auto framing to a new location based on newer plan iterations.
  6. I get the same behavior sometimes too. It actually happened with one of my plans earlier today. It was zoomed way in on a blank area in the plan too so it definitely wasn't based on my last save. Anyway, I know that isn't much help. Just want to let you know that you're not alone with your problem. I have just never personally cared enough to look into it any further. I just zoom out and get back to work. It's definitely worth reporting to tech-support if it bothers you though and I would strongly encourage you to do just that. Many of us spend a lot of time reporting problems that benefit all of us but as with so many other cases… We only have so much time in the day and we have to choose our battles carefully.
  7. I only did this very quickly and there are obviously a number of things that will need adjusting (structural settings, heights, moldings, roof pitches, etc.) but it was all done automatically except that I had to drag the roof back above the window seat after the auto build. I really didn't do anything special. Just adjusted a few minor settings. Anyway, like I said, you'll have to perfect it but take a look at the attached plan and see if you can figure it out from there... Bumpout.plan
  8. That looks really nice Ross. Good job!
  9. Here's a few tips that may or may not help you out Larry...
  10. No. You'll just need to let it live in layout. You should be using layout to create your documents anyway though right? Or...you can just upgrade to Premier and get all the tools you might need.
  11. Sorry, no...you do not have that tool. You may just have to use one of the other methods after all. I think the next best option for you is probably going to be sending your cross section view to layout as Plot Lines and then using the Edit Layout Lines tool. Here's a quick video...
  12. I think the most efficient solution for this type of thing is to simply take a section view>CAD Detail From View and adjust as necessary. There are more complex solutions but I don't think they're really worth it.
  13. No way to do this without creating a modified door symbol. Good thing is that once you do it once, simply add that door to your library and you have it available for next time you need it.
  14. In X9 that has been moved to the new Object Information tab...
  15. A few Options.... 1. Hit Undo 2. Edit>Delete Objects. Select "All Rooms On This Floor", check Automatic Dimensions, and click Delete. 3. Select one of the automatic dimensions, click on the Match Properties tool (Control+J), check "Layer", click Okay, and then hit delete. 4. If you want to be a little more selective, activate one of the manual dimension tools and Shift (or Control) select the desired dimensions (either with a marquis or one by one). It may help to turn off some layers for this operation depending on what exactly you're trying to do.
  16. You can also try to simply open the text objects and click okay. You can even group select them and do this.
  17. Very good advice Perry. I regularly clean out my computer too, especially when I start experiencing unexpected slow downs, freeze ups, or crashes. It can make a substantial difference. I've never used a vacuum though. I always just use those "duster" cans of compressed air.
  18. I can't speak to your particular issue, but I can tell you this. I noticed wall alignment issues during the upgrade from X8 to X9. I have yet to report it because I was too busy when I noticed the problem and I just fixed them at that time but I had attic walls that were just ever so SLIGHTLY out of alignment with the walls below. Just enough to have those pesky lines show up in vector views. I just clicked the Align With Wall Below tool for all the offending walls but it was a strange anomaly indeed.
  19. It's because you have no ceiling above that wall to stop it from going all the way up to the roof below. Drag your ceiling planes over to cover those walls. Also, not sure where Gary was talking about, but you definitely should try using the new Shelf Ceiling tool over the room on that side where you have the shelf. It's an extremely handy new tool.
  20. Here are a few potential solutions that come to mind... 1. Go to page zero, group select everything (including the drawing sheet or "Sheet Boundary") and slightly move it. This will require you move everything on your other pages this same direction and distance. If you feel brave, you can move everything all at once (except for the sheet boundary)... Go into a plan view, hit Control+H and draw a small Edit Area Polyline (maybe 4ft. x 4ft.) With the polyline still selected, hit Control+X to cut that polyline Go to layout and hit Control+V to paste the polyline so that it completely envelopes your plan With the polyline still selected, move it the desired amount. My preferred method would be to start dragging, hit tab, and then enter the desired distance and direction. Select the sheet boundary on page zero and move that the same distance and direction. 2. Go to page zero and rearrange your title block. 3. Remove your scale from the title block and place it somewhere else on the sheet. Many people place it just below their layout box or view labels (or whatever you want to call them). Truth is that many plans/pages often have different scales on the same page and so having the scale in the title block isn't always appropriate anyway.
  21. Dan, you should be using a different tool. Like Eric said, just rotate the layout boxes (will require you uncheck "Rotate With Plan" for all your text). OR....Use Edit Area (All Floors), draw a marquis selection around everything and then rotate that. I've suggested in the past that Rotate Plan View be renamed as it causes a lot of confusion in this particular area. What it does is rotate the plan VIEW. In essence, it rotates your drawing board.
