  1. Also, just a side note and I know its a little off subject now, but you can also adjust the number of cores allocated to Chief by going through these 3 steps... If the low CPU usage WAS your problem (which it seems now was a bad assumption on my part) then you could also check here to make sure this had not been changed.
  2. Why does your screenshot only show it running at 27% then? I assumed that's what you were trying to address. If your CPU is indeed running at 90-100% on all cores than Mick is right. Its something about your model. More likely than not it has to do with the number of faces, number of lights, or screen size but there are a number of other settings that come into play too as Mick already pointed out.
  3. Click on that performance tab and then click on Open Resource Monitor. Then over on the right you can see which cores are being used. Also, check Preferences>Ray Trace and make sure its set to use all available cores.
  4. Good catch. I'm gonna guess a little bit of inadvertent Object Eyedropper usage was to blame.
  5. Many ways, but just try using railing sent to no room definition
  6. No, not necessarily. You can just click on the Open Symbol tool after you drop the object into the plan if you want to.
  7. Just FYI, the problem occurs because the symbol is set as a switch. Uncheck that option and the problem goes away...
  8. Yep. Kinda what I thought. Its all super easy and super amazing and soooooo much better than Chief, and soooo much more intuitive, but so far no quick examples demonstrating how easy it is. It should only take a couple minutes right? I'm gonna go ahead and call BS. Lumion is just like every other piece of software, it costs money, it takes time, and it always seems super easy till you dig into it. I have no doubt that it turns out a better end product than Chief but to be fair, you're definitely paying for it, both in time (learning and modeling) and money. P.S. I've seen plenty of Lumion examples from seasoned users. Those ones don't count. What I would like to see is the "Open, load, and push the button". I won't hold my breath.
  9. Sweet. Thanks for the information Dan. I understand the risks involved. Its nice to know that there actually is a way to store more than one preference set up though...or at least a way to back my settings up.
  10. Most all the .ini files I know of are related to spell checking and text details. I too would be very interested to know if there was a file that was storing my preferences that could be accessed.
  11. Navigating the library is extremely slow for me as well right now. I suspect it has something to do with the new Ray Casted Sun Shadows inadvertently affecting the library browser but I'm not sure. It basically takes almost a full 2 seconds to open a 3D library object. If I toggle preview panel off, the lag goes away completely. I have reported this to tech support. If you haven't already, you should as well. This is the type of thing Chief is usually pretty quick about fixing as long as people report it.
  12. See if this one works for you Joe. I just took Chop's and converted to a raised "button"... Joe's X10.ico
  13. There are quite a few methods for this type of thing but the 2 that stand out to me the most... 1. Just use a double callout... 2. Use an elevation camera... The latter is probably my personal favorite because you can place the grid line once and it will display on ALL floors and it can be selected on any floor as well. Biggest downside to the camera method though is that it comes with no usable snaps.
  14. Yup. Then try to draw those doors opened, or view them from various angles inside and outside or with lights and shadows in affect, or in section views, etc. Really not very realistic, accurate, or usable IMO except for maybe a few very limited views. It might work for the occasional situation though. The biggest challenge though IMO... When I'm modeling something, I always aim to create the object so that it does a good job representing the subject matter not only in standard views...but in plan views, and more importantly--vector views (and other line based views) as well. Personally I can't stand to be limited to using only standard views.
  15. Sounds like you were being sarcastic but I personally love the new icon.
  16. That plus the fact that most things that are possible with one version of premier also work the same with other versions of premier. It could result in a crapload of redundant information. I completely understand and sympathize with your frustrations Mick. I just don’t think there’s an easy answer. The best solution might be your idea of requiring users to enter their current version info. I mean, Chief should have that already anyway. The only small downside I can see is the fact some people might not want to share that information for fear of being ostracized or for fear of the inevitable “You should upgrade” after every query. Pretty minor detail that I’m sure people could just deal with if you ask me, but a consideration nonetheless.
  17. Definitely possible to create that in Chief, but a few quick notes/warnings... -Regardless of whether or not you want to use the picture or model it all from scratch, you will definitely have to at least model the frame and probaby even the doors themselves if you want it to look any kind of realistic. That alone would be a difficult task for most users. -If you want to use the image you're going to have to do some very careful cropping and I would personally probably even go so far as to change the image to make everything except the scroll-work transparent. Again...not an easy task and by the time you go that far you may as well have just modeled the scroll-work from scratch. -I can tell you from experience that the scroll-work is very difficult in Chief. Doable, but difficult. End of the day? Even the most proficient Chiefers would have a hard time modeling that door. I could personally do it, but to reach any kind of quality that I would be ready to put my name on, my time would likely end up being measured in hours as opposed to minutes. If you decided to make a go of it, good luck. It will probably be a very good exercise but be prepared to spend a lot of time on it.
  18. Those settings live with the cameras/views themselves now.
  19. You say this, but I haven't seen any examples from you. If its really that easy, can you just quickly render a scene and post an example?
  20. Its not the wall fill that is this problem. Its the actual floor or room fill. From the first example plan: From the second example plan: In other words, its not the wall, its what the wall is DOING. Change the wall to no-room definition or make it at or near zero inches thick and the "fill" goes away. Actually, in the first example, simply dragging the invisible wall a few inches further would also fix the fill problem as well as the much larger functional problem that existed with that extra small top tread.
  21. I think your estimation of this situation is correct. The shelf ceiling wasn't made to drop a ceiling structure inside a room envelope so much as it was made to drop a room envelope within another room envelope.
