  2. Scott my thoughts are that a balcony on the outside of the house doesn't show anything underneath it see pictures of a qucik plan I did with the balcony on second floor
  3. Scott the only time I would call anything a balcony is if is on the second floor and outside the house then I consider it a balcony, I did them off of a master bedroom that was on the second floor with nothing underneath it

  5. David what if you used a window and match roof then put in the amount of mutin's you need horizontial just a thought if it works you can adjust it
  6. you might want to post the plan, it could have something to do with your wall layer setup and if you turned the ceilings off by posting the plan we can see more of what is happening unless someone else has run into this before

Maui I know they only support for so many versions back and with X3 being 5 versions back and coming up on the 6th you might not have the support you need for the lib items, just have to ones you have on your computer already which they can't take off of you since you paid for X3 just won't get the support for it and any new lib., you might want to give Chief a call tomorrow and ask them your original question
  8. Maui, I think if you don't have SSA you only get a few of the library's and the SSA gives you the latest version, does it ask you if you want to purchase any of them since you are not at the latest version you might not get all of the lib without a purchase of some of the lib items

Check with Chief tomorrow, I am doing a project with someone that uses home designer pro and I have to use chief X7 to that we can go back and forth looking at plans and making revision, not sure if Chief has upgrade hd pro so that it works with x8 yet but they will know which will work for you it will all depend on what version of hd pro they have

As Larry and Shane have said download the blocks then find the one closest to what you are looking for exploded it make the changes to meet your needs then block it and give it a name for what you want and put on a layer for what you want and then setup a lib in the user lib and put all your blocks in there and you will always have them

  12. I believe it is because on the second floor front there is no floor or roof designation I put a roof on that area and framed the house and all seems ok it this is what you were looking for Practice Plan 2.plan
  13. I have had no problem printing jobs on 36" x 48" paper with using the layout sheets and my plotter, all went well

  20. David if I am thinking of what you are trying to do I would make the area on the upper floor unspecified or delete any railings that are up there and go to the first floor and auto build opening again

Scott I was thing that he had drawn a set of stairs then used the make stairwell opening tool once that was done he moved the stairs to a different position and wanted the new stairwell open to update automatic the original stairwell opening, yes we can have to stairs on one floor I just don't think they and be in each others zone and again I could be wrong
  22. simple answer yes, Chief won't put a stairwell over an existing stairwell

I like the others have been using Chief for a long time and use in every day all day long into the evening and like DJP I use to have crashes and it has been so long that I can't even remember which version, since then Chief has been very very stable for me and I always upgrade to the latest version since Chief is used for my business.
