  1. See if this tech article helps: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00467/troubleshooting-missing-toolbars.html
  2. I think all you need to do is draw a "cross box" (hardly a reason to hire a cad monkey). I don't think you can set the default color for the background to be gray but you could just set it in one and then use the fill style painter for any others.
  3. Are you still on X13? If not, you should update your signature. Did you turn off auto connect for island rooms in your general wall defaults? If you did, then you need to draw a room divider to connect your deck railings to the building. Either that or turn auto connect back on. If that doesn't help, then it sounds like you have a room definition problem. You probably need to post the plan.
  4. You can't. Need to draw them in manually.
  5. According to Jacob it was a bug in X14 that was fixed in X15: https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/39717-corner-windows-have-a-gap/
  6. Open up the ramp dialog and turn off automatic heights. Then set the base height to some larger value.
  7. It looks like you didn't actually build the foundation. Either that, or you didn't rebuild it after you made changes. Or maybe you messed up your room (or room structure) settings that could be causing that. If you want something more than random guesses, it is usually best to post the plan.
  8. Yeah, it's saturday so support won't be available until monday. I would highly recommend checking out these support articles while you are waiting. Maybe you will get lucky and you will be able to solve the problems all on your own. As far as the sys reqs are concerned, ventura looks like it is still supported: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/products/sysreq.html If you're having general problems with random crashing, this article has some good info (even though it says it's windows only): https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-03049/troubleshooting-chief-architect-software-closing-unexpectedly-on-windows.html If you're only having problems when in camera views (even in dialogs or the library), try this one: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00106/troubleshooting-3d-camera-view-display-problems-in-chief-architect.html
  9. Maybe you turned on "print preview"? It's on the default toolbars on the right side of screen or in the menus under "file/print". You can also turn on the drawing sheet separately from print preview. It's also on the default toolbar or in the menus under "view".
  10. Have you tried just drawing a beam and then using the "post with footing" tool to center them under your beams? You can setup your post and footing defaults in the framing defaults. I don't think you can set it up to use a rectangular footing though, just a square one. If you need something more complicated, you could probably build the post and footing as symbol that you could then place where you need them. In the picture above, I might be tempted to create a symbol for the post/footing and then use a distributed path to lay them out.
  11. I can think of a whole lot of different ways to do this: - select everything (using either select all or marquee select) and then use the "reflect about object" tool. - select everything and then use the "transform/replicate" dialog to reflect vertically. - use the edit area tool instead of first selecting everything. One advantage of this tool is that you can do all floors at one time. - "reverse" the plan first, and then rotate it 180 degrees using either select all, edit area, or transform/replicate. I would not recommend using the "rotate plan view" tool though because this has some weird side effects (as mentioned by Glenn above). - probably some others I forgot about. I don't think it really matters how you do it though. The end result is that most of your text and room labels will be upside down and then you will need to fix them. I have not figured out any good way to get around this.
  12. There are a few different ways to do this. One way is you just use a normal railing and manually place the posts at the corners and then manually draw your beam. Sometimes a search on this forum is a good way to find answers. I found this thread by searching for "post" and "beam" and using "all of my search terms":
  13. Sometimes when the generated 2d block doesn't look quite right you can get better results by adjusting the smoothing angle. From the middle picture above, it is impossible to tell if you actually choose the cad block your are editing in the bottom picture. My guess is that you didn't. If you did but it doesn't display the same, then you probably need to post the plan.
  14. Instead of doing a custom face for the side and making the item an "applied panel", just make the whole side "auto paneled". Then you can just use the panel settings on the "accessories" page to set the panel style and use "full size panel" and "extend to bottom".
  15. There is no way (that I know of) to animate the trees and plants the way they did in Chief. The cottage may have been modelled in Chief and then exported but it's pretty hard to tell. The perfectly flat roof and stonework looks very similar to what you see in Chief (and the most unrealistic part of it, IMO). I did not see anything in their walkthrough that I didn't think you could do in Chief although I am not 100% sure since I don't do that many of them. There are a couple of walkthrough training videos here: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/19/virtual-walkthroughs.html https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/10208/3d-walkthroughs-how-to-make-great-virtual-tours.html
  16. Open the deck room. Edit the floor structure. Mark the joists as framing. Turn auto rebuild deck framing back on (or manually rebuild the deck faming every time you make a change).
  17. OK, so I finally figured out what was going on here. Your plan has 3 different concrete materials that are all named the same. If your stem wall and your slab are using different materials, they will show these extra lines. Just open up your "plan materials" dialog and merge the 3 concrete materials into one and your extra lines will go away
  18. One thing that can cause this is if you have messed around with your wall top/bottom heights. You can fix them by using the "reset to defaults" tool and selecting "wall top heights" and "wall bottom heights". You may need to do this on each floor though. Another thing that might cause problems like this is that somehow you have messed up your floor platforms. Not sure exactly what would do it though because I played around a bit to try and make it happen and couldn't. For problems like this, it is usually best to post the plan. Someone on the forum can almost always figure it out pretty quickly. If the plan is too big, try "zipping" it up first (when the plan is closed) and this can make it much smaller. If it's still too big, then make a copy and delete stuff that isn't needed to show the problem.
  19. You can tie your dimension defaults to your saved plan views (along with your layer set and all of your other annotation defaults). They actually have a whole video series about this: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/playlists/100/saved-plan-views-layers-annotations.html
  20. Just to clarify what I said before, if you have cad in a block, you can use the separate object layers to control things like line style, line weight, and line color (depending on the "by block layer" or "by object" setting) but you can't use them to control visibility. Visibility is always controlled by the block layer and I think it is always an all or nothing. Either everything in the block shows or nothing shows. You might be able to fake it though by setting the line style to "invisible" or the color to white.
  21. I am getting the same dialog as GrizzlyBear. I think this is controlled by the door symbol and not by whether or not the door is int/ext. My guess is that Chopsaw has an older version of the library that used to have more materials assigned to it. Maybe he could post it on the forum to share? @Chopsaw At any rate, it would be pretty easy to create your own symbol just using poly solids and that would be a useful skill to have for future doors that Chief doesn't have. Here is a tech article that might help: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-01808/creating-a-custom-door.html
  22. I was playing around with this in a new plan and couldn't make it happen. There must be something different about your plan but I don't know what. I checked the materials because I know that you will often get extra lines between things when they have different materials but that does not look like the case here. Might want to send it in to Chief.
  23. I think the reason you never saw this before is because it is new in X15: • Garage slabs now extend over the top of stems walls at openings After searching, I found it mentioned hidden here: https://cloud.chiefarchitect.com/1/pdf/documentation/chief-architect-x15-changelog.pdf I haven't figured out if there is an easier way to get rid of it though. You could always just leave it since this is how the slab is built IRL.
  24. Or, if you don't want to wait, you could try posting the plan on the forum. Then someone can see if they have the same problem and maybe figure out what is blocking the move. I'm guessing like chopsaw that you have something that is blocking the move. Although usually when this happens you can move it right and then move it back left until it hits whatever is blocking it. Of course it could always be something else, like somehow you accidently mapped the arrow key to do something other than move? Also, just as an fyi, there are lots of ways to move things other than using the left arrow. Using the transform/replicate dialog or typing in a value for a dimension are other ways of moving an object that can usually ignore any blocking objects.
