Seems to work for me. Maybe you did something wrong with the door symbol?
-
I don't think those stairs will connect automatically. If you want the handrail to wrap around, you will probably have to draw it manually with a molding poly. You could also maybe draw a short rail section there depending on what you are trying to do.

Did you look in all of the bonus and manufacturer libraries? Not sure if some of them are only for X15 or not though. X15 has some library improvements that might actually help in this case because you can search for "architectural blocks" and it will show you all of the installed library objects as well as all of the ones you can download. Did you really need the furniture "grouped" because if you can find individual pieces that you like you can always build your own groups. Just grab them, block them, and save them to your user library.

The arrow backoff point looks like it is only used when you are using the cad block as an arrowhead. It allows you to change where the line ends relative to the arrow insertion point. It took me awhile to figure it out because apparently it also controls the orientation of the arrowhead. While messing with it, I ended up with my arrow head pointing every which way. Seems like you need to be careful when using it and it would be better if you could just set the angle. In the picture below, the insertion point is at the tip of each arrow. For the one on the right, the arrow backoff point is at the bottom. It's probably not very useful if your arrowhead has a solid fill.

Yeah, that's probably why @TeaTime always seems to beat me to the post.

What, no love for poor old DB even though I beat Robert by a good 13 hours? Good thing I don't get my nose all bent out of shape over silly things like up/down votes and who gets credit for solutions. ;) And no, once you make something a symbol you really can't "explode" it to get back to the original objects. You can put it in a camera view and add/delete more surfaces to make a new symbol, but you can't do much else. They're now just "dumb" surfaces and you have lost the "smart" objects.

What about using one of the attic gable vents in the core library?
-
I think you will need to create a new library shutter. Might be as easy as copying the existing one in the library, resizing it so that the panels are the smaller size, and then putting the stretch plane in the panel that will grow.

I couldn't remember so I just used "help" to find it. Default Settings--Schedules--Custom Object Fields

Or, just show it using the reference display tools. In fact, you could keep the site plan, main building, and shop all in separate plans and display the main building and the shop on the site plan using reference display. The new offsets and angle that they added in X15 make this much easier. Here is some more info about using reference display: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00475/using-the-reference-display.html https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/5435/using-the-reference-display.html?playlist=100

Go back and reread my post above. You don't need all of those custom fields. All you are going to do is create more work for yourself. For example, you don't need to add a custom field for "Room". Get rid of it. Just add the built in schedule column for "Room Name". If you don't want it to say "Room Name" as the column title, then you can just rename it in the schedule to say "Room". You will still need some custom fields and to add info to them, just do what Joe says above.

Most of the information you are showing is stuff that Chief will already do for you automatically, so you don't really need to create custom object fields for them. Chief will already do the Cabinet #, Room, Quantity, Width, Depth, Height, and Notes automatically. Keep in mind that you can always rename the column titles to what ever you want. For the CWP Code column, I would just use the "code" data and rename the schedule column. You will also need to enter this code for all of your cabinets. For the Modifications/Accessories column, I would probably just use "comments" data and rename the schedule column. If you are ok with the "description" that Chief already uses then you don't need a custom field for the "Cabinet Type". If not, then you can use a custom field called "Cabinet Type" and then you would need to type this in for every cabinet. Once you have created the custom field, it should automatically show up as a column that you can add to your schedule. Once you have filled in something for the custom field for a cabinet, then it should automatically show up in the schedule (just like it will when you type in notes or description). So the only other custom field you will need is the "Wall". Again, you would just create the custom field, type the name of the wall into the field for the cabinet, and then when you add the column to your schedule it should just show up. Once you get this setup, it's all pretty easy to use. It's only confusing to setup the first time you need to.

chief architect x15 standard view walls not showing
DBCooper replied to resdes's topic in General Q & A
Have the walls been marked as invisible? Are the walls using transparent materials? Are the walls on the normal walls layer? If it's not one of these, then you might want to post the plan. More thoughts: Does it happen in all plans, or just one plan? If it is just one plan, then you should post it. If it happens in all your plans, then it could be the result of a video card or driver problem. -
You can't import any cad, pictures, or other 2d stuff in a camera view (unless it's an elevation). Also, in the future you might want to post a bigger picture because the one above is pretty hard to see.

If you open the deck room and make sure "auto rebuild deck framing" is turned on, then you shouldn't have to rebuild it every time you make a change. Can't remember if X12 had any bugs where you needed to force a manual rebuild even when it was turned on, but I know this has happened to me before (but it's been a while).

Or this: 1. select each cabinet and use the "make molding polyline" tool 2. edit the molding poly lines in plan view and join the ends

According to what I have read online, you can't run either revit or autocad on linux: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/installation-licensing/revit-in-linux/td-p/7774012 https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-forum/autocad-on-linux/m-p/7927729#M928989 Since linux only has a 3% market share on desktop operating systems, I can't see how Chief would get their ROI to do this: https://linuxiac.com/linux-hits-3-percent-market-share/#:~:text=Linux Operating System Achieved a,competition from other operating systems.

Library Preview not displaying for fold selection.
DBCooper replied to RobWhite's topic in General Q & A
If you want to turn on the library preview, first click on the "gear" button at the bottom left side of the browser and then make sure there is a check in front of "preview". If this doesn't help, then you might want to go into your preferences and use the "reset side windows" button. Also, you might want to check out this training video that covers the new X15 browser: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/268/library-browser-overview.html -
They already do show up in the material list, but I'm not sure how they are getting the size they report. In theory, you should be able to customize this to show you a count of each piece but this is not an area I know very well. Maybe someone else can tell you how to set this up. I don't think there is any way to include 3D solids in a schedule. You could model them using slabs since it looks like they are all the same shape vertically and you can put slabs into a schedule. Or, convert them into symbols like Joe suggested.

It's probably not a layout box. Assuming that you used "file, import picture", then you have created a "picture file box" directly on your layout. If you see text below this box, than that is probably the label for the box. If you don't want to see any labels on any imported pictures or pdfs, then just turn off the layer for "picture/pdf boxes, labels". If you don't want to see the label on just this box, then open the dialog and check the box for "suppress label". This works very similar to how labels work on many other objects but the layer used for the label can be different. The easiest way to see what layers an object is using is to select the object and then use the "object layer properties" button. Or, if you have the "active layer display options" (aka ALDO) open, this will show you the relevant layers.

Did you try playing with the "minimum alcove size" in the build roof dialog?

1) I have found that "match properties" does not include all properties. I think Chief has said in the past that they will add more properties over time based on what people ask for. You might want to send them a feature request for things like this you want included, like arrowheads. 2) Yes, it's called copy/paste. Probably not going to help in this case though because you don't really want to match all properties. For cases like this, I would just select both lines and set the arrowheads the same. I would also make sure I had my defaults set up so that I would get the arrowheads I wanted from the start.

It looks like your porch room is building a mono slab foundation and your porch railing is building a footing underneath it. I think these are the "foundation extensions" you are seeing. Open your porch railings and turn off "foundation wall" and it should look better.
