Joe's way works. For me, I would make the change to my annosets, I would export them and import into my template file.
-
This is exactly how I do it. It is the best of both worlds. You have a "Template" that has all the current settings and use the SAM of that "template" when a new project comes up. Then you don't have to take time to delete everything out of the prior file. The template as everything there ready to go with view ports in layout and all current settings. So the Template method as Joe said is the SAM method.

HOW DO I MAKE THE OUT LINE OF HOUSE DISPLAY ON SECOND STORY
jbaehmer replied to ddestimate's topic in General Q & A
I create a separate "reference" layer set for that specific view. I then highlight the view port on the layout, use the "open" command (Not double clicking it) and turn on that reference layer. Then there is only one view port and I haven't created something additional in the plan file. However you way works just as well. -
Roof pitch labels in section and elevation
jbaehmer replied to Bill_Emery's topic in Tips & Techniques
so they did get it in there....just buried it so it was difficult to notice. Sneaky CA....very sneaky I think it is great that it is there for others that do use it, but I personally am with Joe and Perry on this one....I wouldn't use it. -
Things appear to be running smooth on my 3 computers. Nvidia didn't want to update right away, but after a couple attempts and restarts it did. Not sure what I did to get it to work though. It must have been magic!

I did what Alan did. I just did a search and found a link to download it. Downloading as I type...

Don't know if it is because I had a really long day...but I do not understand what you are asking.

I agree wtih Robert & Scott. Many of the rooms don't have the floor structure defined. Also, I believe the FDN below is causing some issues. I got something very similar to Robert, but I had to reset the FDN, and change all the floor defaults to match. From there I was able to "lower the room down. Like Robert said...not perfect, but what he has is going the right direction. check out Scott's videos. For me once I set the floor structure defaults to match, it was simple (to me) to lower the floor to get something like what you were going for.

I have been wondering this for a long time....what is the difference? I don't get it.

Yeah...that computer was turned off. Didn't want to wake the family, but did and logged remotely and got on to deactivate. I then tried to open X7 and it took it a minute, but was able to open in. Definitely took longer though to open. Website is still down though.
-
Yeah..but the website is down and my license is activated on another computer. I can't get on CA site to deactivate it.
-
Yeah...not for me either.

Same here.....

Didn't see it when I opened it.

post a plan if you are looking for a solution.

Hello. I am in Tacoma, WA and just sent you an email. Look forward to talking with you.

With you having it they way you said, that is strange as to why it happened. Hope TS figures it out for you. The DBX box that Alan (Gawdzira) showed is when you open the view port of the plan in Layout view. Note...not double clicking the view, but highlighting it and clicking the open symbol. Cool little trick that I didn't know about this this thread happened.

What I have done is created a Annoset for each Layer set that I have. I rarely switch my layer set drop down list. Each Anno set that I have corresponds with the layer set. Example, my "roofing" annoset links to my "roofing" layer set. My FDN Annoset links with my FDN Layerset. That is what I have found works best for me.
-
I believe I get what he is talking about..... There are two different drop down lists that you can use. one is for anno sets and the other is layer sets. I think what you are doing is changing only the layer set and not the anno set. So you can go start with a "roof" Layer set and have a "roof" Annoset and if you change just the layer set to a "Foundation" layer set, the anno set for "roofs" will still be active. You can have an anno set change the layer set, but can't have the layer set change the anno set. This has been a debate in the past on which should control the other. So, I think what you were originally doing was changing the anno sets when you thought you were changing the layer sets.
