  1. I am not sure what kind of cameras you are using but depending on the camera, you actually can copy camera views from a plan to another. However, it is only a 3d views that can do it. Elevation/Cross Section camera do not. This is because CAD work and text are in the elevation views. If that is what you are going for, then I am with you in the frustration. However, if you are doing 3d views, it can easily be done because there is not CAD or Text in those views.
  2. I opened up my template and an OOB plan file to verify and it only shows a camera layer and a camera, labels layer. No "Inactive" layer. What does your OOB plan file show?
  3. feel free to email them over and I can do a quick PDF for you.
  4. Hello. Feel free to send it over and I will get in touch with you on it. Look forward to speaking with you. Contact info below.
  5. Yeah...I have noticed something also where just a day or so ago, CA crashed and when I went to where it was saved, the file was gone. I did have an archive file, so I didn't think much of it. I thought it was just me and a one-time thing, but it sounds like it may be others too. Sounds like something for Tech Support. I can see the frustration there....especially when you have the setting correct and it still vanishes and losing hours of work. It sucks!
  6. Not sure if this was your situation.....but, I have been caught using a new plan going to (File -> New Plan) and not saving it (being used to the auto-save feature) and had a crash or something causing CA to close and there is nothing to show for it. That is why I use a template I copy to my desktop and not a "New Plan". Because there is not saved location on a new file, so it has nothing that can be "auto-saved", archived....anything.
  7. After I posted that, I was wondering if that was what you were referring to....Thanks.
  8. Why would they both need to be open? Should only need the layout open. Example: I copied a client's project to my desktop, deleted all the windows (Just for testing purposes), saved and closed CA. Restarted CA, opened the layout and left the plan file closed. Told CA to update views and it did. Not sure if I am misunderstanding the reason both being open.

  10. I opened in X7 and changed the setting to allow HD Pro to open it. You should be able to open these. Hope this works. cabin_36_east_shed.plan oven tub.plan yurt 24 furniture.plan
  11. Hello. Looking for a structural engineer that someone would be willing to recommend out of the Maryland Area. Would be great if they used CA also, but isn't a requirement.

  14. I agree with you. I know there has been some issues, it is just strange that it affects the length of the tab. We both have (2) tabs, but mine are larger than his. strange. I do know that he isn't the type to mess around with the registry. I guess I will kick over to tech support and give them another example of what is happening. Thanks for your efforts.
  15. Michael - Thought of the OS also, but we are both on Windows 10. We are both updated to the latest version of X9. Text size seems to be the same, but the spacing of the tabs is the only difference I can see. I will have him send me his version and we will see if that does it. If not, looks like a tech support issue.
  16. Ok...I have a client I am working with and when we open the same text item, its overall appearance is different. It looks like the tab spacing is longer in mine than his. Not sure if this is something I can manipulate or not. I attached the layout file that has the text boxes in it and stripped it down. I also attached how it looks on our screens. My screen is the "Capture" file and the clients is the word document. This is how I received the file. I don't put text on layouts, however, this is how my client wants it so I am doing it his way right now. 30x42 Plan.layout Text Tabs.docx
  17. You could always rent the premier version. I think it is $200 a month, but doing at least one month will give you that much time to see what you think about it.
  18. You can check the archive files. It is located in your documents folder under the Chief Data folder.
  19. Feel free to contact me and we can discuss your project. jared@cornerstonehomedesigns.com 253.777.2362
  20. post a plan file so we can look at it closer
  21. CA does have an additional license discount they do. They would need to get you the pricing on it or you can find it on their website. I don't believe they have hardware locks for CA anymore. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/products/premier/
  22. Being in the general Q&A section, I can not either confirm or deny this. I will see the guys in the CA booth as I am interested to find out when public beta is coming out though. I would expect tomorrow...but you never know.
  23. Yeah...I am here at Dan's training and it has been going on the past couple days. We will be going to the IBS tomorrow and Wed.
