I would just trace the CAD Lines with you typical walls in CA. The concept is a good one, but when I tried to do in on other projects, I found that simply tracing the CAD lines after importing the DWG was 10x faster than trying to get all the layers correct and then using the tool. I know there are others that may like the tool, however, personally...I am with Lew on this one. I think it needs to go.

Hello. I am out of the Tacoma, WA area. I see that working remote may not be your thing, but I have done several jobs remotely successfully. I am very familiar with the current WA State energy codes, WA amendments to the 2012 IRC/IBC and county requirements. If interested, please give me a call and we can talk about your needs and how I can assist you. Jared Baehmer 253.777.2362 cornerstonehd79@gmail.com

Yes. There is a link highlighted in the picture and it will download a layer that can be imported into GE. From there you can change the transparency on the topo layer that was imported. It only shows a large area, so it is difficult to get individual parcel topos I believe. But others may have better luck than me on it. -
Diddo....What Perry said. He beat me to the punch

I have been trying to research this, but I think it just may be way over my head as I am trying to understand the Ruby Language. I am using this macro for my window styles type_code.gsub(/RS/,'XO') Can I make it so that I can show something different for each window style within the single macro?

You should be able to just turn off your object snaps and use the measure tool without hitting Ctrl.

Wall "leak" Is Messing With The Door Elevation
jbaehmer replied to 4hotshoez's topic in General Q & A
Use the "edit wall layer intersection" tool. That will allow you to adjust how it comes together to get the rooms to be separate. -
Yeah...I can understand that, however, it needs to be more of an option. I have a builder that I have over 70 base plans saved and he doesn't want the small 4.25" extensions. I called TS and sent it in. It worked great right before this update, so it was something that they changed that most likely inadvertently did this. Hope they look into it to change it. I have tried to see if "edit wall layer intersection" would work, but found out that the icon isn't available when on floor 0. Unless I am completely missing something.

Before the release of X7, my strip footings ended at the end of the wall. Now, they extend past 3 or so inches. In the attached pic, I drew a red line of where it used to stop. Is there a new setting that I am not aware of to get this back to where I once had it?

Yeah....I am coming in days after to throw in my two cents....Look at all the fun I miss when I am gone for about a week. I see the material list as being accurate as what the model shows....to a point. I was on the phone with TS and there is one issue that I found with the material lists that TS agreed shouldn't be that way. I took a 10x10 structure. Placed a window and door, so there are only two opening. In both the door and window, turned off the header. Yet when running the material list it still shows 2x6 header with a count of 7. How did it get that? Now granted, I was doing this only looking for headers and nothing else, so there may be other issues that I haven't seen. My focus was just on lumber at that moment. I believe it is accurate up to the point of lumber takeoffs. I am definitely interested if there is a material list workshop. I want to use the material lists, just don't understand them 100% yet.

I do not have a stamp. The drawings I have will need to be taken to an engineer to get stamps. I do have an engineer I work with, but he only has stamps in WA and OR right now. So if you need permits for either of those states, I can get stamped drawings to you. Feel free to call me with any questions.... 253.777.2362

Ok. I have heard about having an extra floor in the plan. Scott has mentioned this a few times (and I know others do it) and I always thought it was interesting, but never (until now) took the time to ask....WHY? What are the advantages to doing this? I don't think I am having issues with it, but then again, I don't understand why some do it this way. Who knows, maybe I will see the error in my ways and start doing it.

Looking to see if there are others in the Tacoma, WA area that would like to meet once in a while to go over how they use CA. Even those who are further out and want to talk online are welcome. Jared Baehmer cornerstonehd79@gmail.com 253.777.2362

That nailed it perfectly!!! Gerry/Joe/Kirk - Thanks for your help! I don't care what Scott says about you

Appreciate it. I noticed that if it a whole number only, it shows up strange. Like if I put in a 9" header. Here is a pic of what I am seeing.
