Another method - https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/1835-x6-sending-elevation-to-layout-in-colour/

Nice job Scott, Looks like the knowledge base has a similar technique. http://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-01270/

..to scale?
-
Way to hang in there. That's not an easy task in Chief. Well done.

All true, and sad, they could actually be a pretty useful tool given a little more thought. Or as I think Scott suggested, make 'vent' an option in the window drop down dbx. then they would have the options of a window plus you could drag them from the foundation floor into the 1st floor without having the first floor plan messed up. Or just label windows/vents as vents then all should be OK? I wonder.
-
Ah, slow to catch up sometimes. I see that was probably the reason for dragging it up in the first place? Square footage is 1'4"(16") x 4" = 64/144 = .6667 or /.67 SF (not 14" x 4" = 56)

Adjusting vent offset shows no movement in 3D, only in plan view is what I discovered. I also discovered the vent area is not correct nor can you use the schedule area for the air movement calc needed in vent calcs. Where is that area of a 14 x 4 vent coming from? Uh...maybe try 1'4" x 4"?
-
Is it that easy? http://www.screencast.com/t/RQ8EsvodA2bU

Super helpful Richard, Scott. I couldn't get the vent to work in 3D up on the first floor framing. Fine on the foundation but not so much on the stucco finish above. Just place the vent in the first floor and position in elevation and it works fine DOH. I was trying to drag it up from the foundation like original vid. Too easy, and it shows as a vent in the schedule. http://www.screencast.com/t/20mhslgrfuBk

Area Calculation Diagram - Video Tutorial
HumbleChief replied to Richard_Morrison's topic in Tips & Techniques
Nice video Richard. It seems like you know quite a bit about macros and have invested enough time in understanding Ruby and its different parameters. Do you think it would be a nice feature to have Chief include a label for p-line boxes that would allow a macro to be defined within that label, or do you think it's pretty much OK the way it is now? BTW what video software did you use? It look really good. -
Watched the video 3 times and was wondering how you define the windows as 'vents'? The best I can do is define them as Louvered.
-
Brilliant Michael. I could have sworn I tried this before and even a tech guy said it couldn't be done. Here's a thrashabout version of the stairs. Far from ready for prime time but doable and I'll always remember this trick. Thanks Michael. http://www.screencast.com/t/YAkxYARp

Any Videos Or Tutorials On The Layout Revision Table?
HumbleChief replied to HumbleChief's topic in General Q & A
Thank you as always Perry. I think I got it working in a little different fashion for my Layout Template. Really wish we could wrap text in the description box. -
I've never used the Layout Revision Table (LRT) and only found very brief mention in the Chief videos with what seemed like a cursory look and a lot of assumptions but no real world use of the tool. Do you add an LRT to each changed page? Or on page '0'? How do you note your changes on the plan - bubbles? Numbers that reflect the number in the table? The city here likes to see bubbled changes with a Delta 1,2,3 etc. Is there a way to add Delta to the labels? Does anyone use the table with success? I could not find any information that is useful. Maybe a video in the Chief library?

Nice tease. Can't figure it out here. Will have to wait until tomorrow Aussie time. Sleep tight Glenn.

But not on interior stairs. Spent hours once trying to get this done and the only way is to stack landings.(Mick) I didn't try to build an interior deck but with conventional stair tools it won't work on interior stairs.

Bockey, Click on the floor number to get to the reference Layer info. Make sure you are referencing the correct floors, then that you are using the correct reference Layer. I have feeling that somehow the reference Layer got changed.

You can always 'Insert New Floor' in between/under any existing floor.

Is It Possible To Change Default Line Order In Dbx?
HumbleChief replied to Steve-C's topic in General Q & A
Good post for the suggestion forum - would love the ability too. -
Never used the Layer eyedropper/a painter in 15 years of CA useage. May have to learn that rascal.

Not overkill at all and would advise setting up ALL of your Anno Sets just the way you want them and once they are done they will serve you far into the future. Remember Anno/Layer Sets are plan specific so you either need to save them as a template (which most likely will be constantly changing as you refine your Anno/Layer Sets) or 'save as' the last plan you worked on to preserve your latest Anno Layer Set modifications. If you've worked on your Anno/Layer Sets for a long time and have them dialed in a template will work great but if, like me, you are constantly changing Anno/Layer setting the save as method may work best.

It looks like the cross section slider is only available in standard/perspective view not orthographic view (re: Bryce).

I've had this problem with PDF's for a very very long time and have just learned to live with it. Talked to the tech folks a couple times and as helpful as they are there was nothing even coming close to a solution. Was mainly wondering if it was something unique with my system or if others had seen it.

I'm thinking floor plans as in plan view. Maybe the OP wants a 3D or orthographic view of some kind? Or a floor plan in plan view? I dunno.
