  1. This photo shows exactly what I was saying above: You are using a filter with nothing selected to show so you are getting the filtered results of nothing. You need it to say Not Filtered where it currently says Active Filter. Change that and get your library back.
  2. 1.) Turn off the filter. 2.) Make sure your bottom window is not minimized at the bottom. Key is that you have a filter setup in that profile.
  3. Read up on the difference between textures and patterns. Hint vector views use patterns, the other views use textures.
  4. You have a filter set which is not allowing you to see anything that does not fall into those filtered results. Click the dropdown arrow for the Filters box.
  5. Funny, I was just showing you that workaround when you posted.
  6. Not possible to do but you can try adding a polyline mask over it with a white angled hatch line with transparent background. It will make the lines look dashed as long as it is in the draw order above the hatching.
  7. Little tricky since its a drop beam and not a wall. But you can do it many ways. A few that come to mind: 1.) Add an opening no material section to your floor definition above that 2.) 3d Solid 3.) Drop your ceiling to be inside that space possibly adding an "opening no material" portion to the ceiling definition. or Alternatively why have a dropped beam for the Deck area, you have enough room in the floor structure there to have a hidden beam there that the joists can hang from. P.S. You need a column in that corner, and its a PE's consultation but if you are able to get away with a beam that small with just 2-3 columns I would be shocked (maybe above as trusses could cantilever that.)
  8. Thanks for this info. It is very important when you are having an issue with the software to have that information. Again to help you not have to type it all out you may find this article helpful.
  9. Looks like it may be pretty hard to support that dormer but that is probably a question for a PE or at least the contractor who is going to do the work and will require a visit into the attic to see the existing conditions. For Chief and doing a dormer it is one of the more challenging things to do but this search of the dormer videos should help get you going as there are lots of good videos on it. There are some additional ones on youtube from some of the power users but I always recommend starting with the chief ones. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/search/?default_tab=video&q=dormer&page=1
  10. Try copying and pasting in place of both of them, then resize them each to the transition point so there is one that will be the wall color and the other ceiling color, then paint them the colors you want to see. Copying and pasting in place helps you not have to start over just adjust it up to where you need it.
  11. Thank you for including this information BTW that is very helpful in getting your answer. Just a tip as you can see many include this information as well as some system specs in their signature line so the other users can see it and it save you time typing it out each time you need answer. Welcome to the forums. There are lots of great users here that will for sure be able to help you get your questions answered once we are clear of what you are looking for.
  12. So from this picture I personally would have probably just used glass walls and manually placed columns floor and roof should be pretty easily accomplished.
  13. Sorry never saw this because you didn’t tag me @GeneDavis or quote me… It looks like it got answered though.
  14. Not like this where the left side is at 9.2 degree off of 90?
  15. If it's not showing up at all that means it is somewhere possibly on another instance of that screen or on a monitor that is no longer connected. If the situation is the same as the OP and resetting side windows doesn't do it then call chief support on monday.
  16. That is a good question, what is fairly accurate? Within 1" error or 8" error? This is highly varying depending upon the user. I have a client who is patient and lines up his pictures well and I have seen it within 1/2" on a 40' run with his. Another client who is not as patient and have seen 4-6" off. Camera could definitely be part of it in that case but my guess is angle of the photo has more. However with hover I have not found an inaccurate roof yet.
  17. It is fairly accurate on exterior dimensions but as I mentioned above it is the best that I have found for Roof slopes/sizes, etc. It is a checkpoint to the matterport interior and I always ask for a couple of key exterior dimensions as well.
  18. That is not an algorithm it is a low paid draftsman in another country going through the scan and measuring and drafting the floor plan.... If you are going to use a scanning service which I use all the time I highly recommend Matterport (with a professional matterport camera not a lidar phone camera) but in addition get a hover.to exterior scan, lots of pictures and some key exterior measurements (overall is helpful.) Get the raw scan itself and trace over a screen grab and draw out then go room by room inside the scan checking dimensions and placement. Hover will give you exterior dimensions and is pretty accurate with the roof. In most cases that will get you within remodel accuracy zone.
  19. I do it all the time. I use different levels for different rooms to aid in separating them but make them inside of a fake house. For something like this I would use ceiling planes which doesn't matter if it's not following the roof lines as long as there is room.
  20. AND the item you want in color needs to have its color set to follow layer color and not be a “custom color”.
  21. 1. Draw a wall and set it as invisible below it will use the same wall above. 3. Yes see 1 above.
  22. It works if you use the right color. That is a mix of both colors. I used a simple gray color over the log siding (will work the same with cedar (I have done it.)
  23. Doesn't really help you in this case but there are some windows in the core catalog from olden days.
  24. Maybe this will help? Pay attention to the tool that is selected in my edit bar there and see if it helps and answers your question. To help you understand try looking up Material Painting tools in the help file.
