  1. Robert, I don't think you actually drew a manual dimension. I think you drew an end-to-end dimension instead and then added new marks manually, If you open the dimension specification dialog, it shows that your dimension line is using the end-to-end dimension locate settings. This means that you drew an end-to-end dimension. End-to-end dimensions do not pick up extra marks so you must of have manually added these marks later. When you manually add dimension marks the program will automatically pick up anything you can dimension to. As far as I know, the program has always worked this way. The only thing that is different in X13 is that now you can dimension to cabinet openings and door/drawer panels. This means that it is much easier to pick up things that you might not want. We are looking into this problem to see if there are any changes we can make to make this less confusing/frustrating.
  2. Please be sure to send tech support the actual plan files and not just the videos. Also, it is helpful to report only one issue (or at least related issues) at a time. We have already fixed a number of issues in X13 related to working with saved plan views and being able (or not able) to select things because they were turned on/off or locked/unlocked in other saved plan views. What you are showing in your first video looks like a new but possibly related issue. We will need to work with your actual files to see if we can duplicate this problem.
  3. This could be related to migrating from X10 to X12 because something does not look right with your X10 installation. You might want to try working with tech support on this.
  4. No, but depending on which kinds of objects you are trying to draw, setting your "Current CAD Layer" or changing one of your other active defaults may do what you want. More information can be found in our training videos: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/240/understanding-default-sets.html
  5. I just did a search in both the suggestions forum and in our internal database and I could not find any such requests.
  6. As far as we can tell, based on the very few people that have actually contacted our technical support team, there are no new problems in X13 related to using a mouse. The cases that have been reported have all turned out to be mouse hardware and/or driver problems or in at least one case, a very obscure problem that has existed in the program for a long time and is easily avoidable. If you are currently using X13 and experiencing any mouse related problems, then please contact our technical support team so that we can look into this further. If you are not using a legally purchased version of X13, then sorry, but we can't help you. You can either purchase the program or deal with the problems you are having on your own. Please be aware that using pirated software is illegal and companies or individuals that are using unlicensed copies of copyrighted software are subject to legal actions. If you work for or know of a company that is using pirated software, then I would encourage you to report them to the Business Software Alliance (BSA) using their online form or by calling their toll-free number. In some cases, you may even receive a cash reward for making your report. https://reporting.bsa.org/r/report/add.aspx?src=us&ln=en-us
  7. If you would like the program to work differently, then you should probably submit a feature request (instead of sneaking it into another post many months later): https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/forum/8-suggestions/
  8. Are you trying to move the stair or change the length? This matters. Normally, you can just drag the start of the stair and it will snap to the landing. Since you have locked the tread depth, this will make it harder to snap the start or end to other objects because they are unlikely to fall on an even tread increment. You can move the stair and snap the start to the landing by grabbing start handle while holding the middle mouse button. You can also use the point-to-point move tool as suggested by Eric.
  9. Your stair is not connected to the landing because it is overlapping the landing by 1 11/16".
  10. Thank you. There's a lot going on in this plan so I couldn't quickly tell if it is something that you have done wrong versus something the program is doing wrong. The bottom line is that I don't really think the program should ever build a frieze on the inside like this. Please always report problems like this directly to our technical support team. Someone else on this forum may be able to give you some better advice in terms of what you can do to avoid this problem though.
  11. Please feel free to report any problems you find in our help system or suggestions for how we can improve it (the same way you would report problems in the actual program). It's pretty hard to predict all of the keywords people might search for since there can be so many differences between computer and building terminology. Sometimes the developers use their own terminology and it drives the documentation team crazy.
  12. Good question for tech support. In general, you should send tech support what they ask for. For problems where an X12 plan does not look the same in X13, we typically only need the X12 plan. Once you start changing things in X13, then we can no longer determine if the problem happened when the legacy plan was converted or if it happened later. Too much info is almost always better than not enough.
  13. You go to the support knowledge base and search for "cursor" to find this article: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-03143/understanding-persistent-pointer-icons.html
  14. Good. We will look into this when we have all the info. Be sure and include your original X12 plans along with all of the reference files by using the Backup Entire Plan tool. Also, be sure to indicate all of the differences that you have noticed on your system so we know what we should be investigating.
  15. Please post a plan that demonstrates the problem.
  16. Your schedule is including custom schedule categories, which as far as I can tell you don't actually have, but your schedule is not including any notes, which is what you want. So open the schedule and unselect custom and select the note types you want. You can probably then get rid of the custom schedule categories since these don't look like they are needed and are just going to add to your confusion. I'm not sure why you have both "Demo" and "Demolition" note types. You probably only need one of these note types. Pick one and get rid of the other. I'm not sure why you have both a "Demolition Notes Schedule" in your plan view and "Custom Schedule" in your "Existing Floor Plan" Cad Detail. You probably want to delete the one in plan view and just work with the one in your cad detail. And, if you want to do this right, you will also need to delete your fake text schedule and all of your callouts and replace them with actual notes. If you are still confused, then please watch this video: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/91/using-notes-note-schedules.html
  17. Your custom schedule does not include any notes.
  18. Make sure your note schedule is actually including the type of notes you placed. If this is not your problem, then you should probably post a plan.
  19. Just to be clear, the "Never Save" option only means that if you make a change to one of the settings that are stored with the saved plan view (such as changing layer sets, turning color on/off, turning reference display on/off, etc.) that the program will not save these changes or prompt you asking if you want to save your changes. If you make any changes using the Saved Plan View Specification dialog box and then click OK, your changes will always be saved. You can also manually save your changes using the "Save Active View" tool. This may or may not have anything to do with what you are seeing in your layout. If you have two views sent to layout linked to the same saved plan view, they should always look the same regardless of the "Never Save" option. If you have two views sent to layout linked to two different saved plan views but using the same layer set, they will also probably look the same since they are using the same display options.
  20. I assume that by "piles" that you mean the deck post footings that Chief builds? If so, then this is just a slab which works the same way all other polyline based objects work. To control how the temporary dimension works, just click on one of the buttons that appears next to it (move edge vs. move object) when you select the dimension you are trying to change. See picture below.
  21. For more info, see this tech article: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-03074/warning-critical-error-writing-preferences.html
  22. It sounds like what you're describing is that your broken walls are merging back together when you edit them which is causing you to lose your custom height edits. One way to prevent this is to change one or more settings in the walls so they won't automatically merge. For example, just changing the layer of one of them will prevent it from merging with another. Lot's of other issues though. Your outer walls are not forming any rooms because, as Doug has pointed out, they are not fully connected. This is not really wrong but it will prevent the program from generating any floors or ceilings. You do form a room in the area on the left side that does have a floor. Your chimney is just a cad box with a text object on top of it. If you want something that will display in a camera view, I would recommend using a 3D object, like maybe a polyline solid. You could also specify a label for it so that don't need to have a separate text object. There is really no good reason to use a cad block to designate one wall as being different than another. You could simply make a copy of the wall type and use a different fill color for the main layer. Or, you could use the wall hatch tool with a solid fill. Either way, your life will be easier when you need to make any changes. You have some dimensions that are locating markers instead of locating your actual wall openings and breaks. This is not really wrong but it means that if you need to adjust these things that your dimensions will not update automatically. I would highly recommend that your review our training videos. Most of the above is pretty basic stuff. Oh, and you should probably update your signature since you are using X12, not X10.
  23. Or, you could try group selecting them and entering the info instead.
  24. As far as I can tell, the built in macros work just fine. Probably best to talk with Joe about this.
