  1. Here is another way that is actually really fast once you do it the first time. My question would be. Can we make it show up in the materials list as ship lap? And could it calculate as square foot so material could be ordered from it?
  2. Yea, now that you said that I remember doing that before. Now I just have to remember how I did it. Another way I guess I could just change all the sheeting to T&G but the material list wont be right
  3. Is their and way to show 1x6 shiplap or T&G as the starter board on the roof eaves as the roof sheeting and OSB sheeting on the rest of the roof? Disregard the red circle around the fascia board.
  4. Yes this is not very clear what you want to do. Rotate floor plan? Rotate 3d view? What are you trying to rotate specifically and to what extent?
  5. My opinion for what it is worth: I look at Chief as being the "Jack of all trades and master of none" for this specific reason that you laid out. You can get very close and generate some beautiful drawings but when it comes to the nuts and bolts of the cabinets for example I have to depend on my cabinet guy to generate the final drawing using a cabinet specific program that you can use to build the cabinets from. Its much easier to do that then to take the time with work arounds in Chief to get exactly what I want. But this is quite ok with me. With the price point of CA and what it can do is definitely worth it. This is software for a designer not a cabinet builders and it's the concept/design that I'm selling and then to be able to generate the drawings for the city for approval. At the same time I also agree that it seems as if CA misses some very basic stuff but I'm not a programmer so I don't know what it take to do what they do but I'm happy with the program over all. I take it back about the master of none statement. I think that was an unfair thing to say because for what the program is designed to do it does it very well! Worth every penny for me.
  6. This is what I love about the forum! Generosity to share your content! What a blessing!
  7. Thank you for sharing this! I haven't tried to calculate cost yet using the materials list. Good example!
  8. That was very easy once I had a little direction. Thank you!!! That's a powerful feature!
  9. I would like to add some custom walls and windows to the tool bar; For example: I know I can put them in the library but on the tool bar would be better accessible. Or am I just Crazy over thinking!
  10. This is what version I have
  11. I was just on the phone with Microsoft support yesterday and they were encouraging me to use it and that Is why I thought, why not! Nothing to loose! Its appears to run faster than Chrome and definitely Explorer
  12. I'm not sure what happened but I opened a new plan and its working in the new plan
  13. I was following this video that Chief put out. Just after 31 minutes in
  14. Yes, if you look closely at the picture you can see the edit handles
  15. How come I cant find this default tool in my plan? Anyone know? Chief demonstrates it in one of their new videos but I can find it.
  16. I just started using Microsoft Edge. I like the flexibility of it but its another thing I have to learn. So far its been pretty easy.
  17. Anyone know how to get rid of this notifications bar? It appears every time I click on something in the forum. I should not be forced to have the notifications turned on in Chief Architect should I?
  18. I think Mick is right on the rafter size. If you build framing you can see what needs to be done more clearly. No one can give you a definite answer unless we have your plan file. Its easier to help you when you can send your plan file.
  19. Framing comes out right also this way
  20. Not sure if this is what you are looking for but I like to run the roof in both directions off the same plate line and just put in a negative number to get my porch roof right from the exterior wall.
  21. I sent Joe a PM about a week ago and He hasn't got back to me. I hope he is ok! Its unlike him not to respond. I'm looking for some macros also.
  22. I just got that in a 1TB and I love it!!! Very Happy! Thanks to all the help I got from my fellow Chiefers on this forum
  23. Hello Joe!

You mentioned in the past that you had some macros set up for calculating square footage. We had talked about this in the past but I never did anything with it. Below is my Building Data that I have currently in a regular text box. I just fill in the information for every job and of course the descriptions change from job to job.

If you already have something built I would be happy to purchase it from you or if you have to build it that would be fine too. Either way I need some help and your recommendation with this task and I would like to pay for your services to help me.

If you can help I would much appreciate it.
