Have you tried the "Wall Material Region" tool?
-
I typically just put in text for the dimension numbers around the perimeter of the house because I think it's a cleaner look without the dimension lines but it takes a little extra time to do it like that. Is there a way to do dimensions and then not show the dimension lines? I never really thought to ask the question because Im sure the answer is no but what the heck, im asking anyway.

Thank you Michael, This is very helpful. I don't always send the plan because most of the time I'm just looking for a little direction to figure it out on my own. I tried the help and I struggle with written direction and it take me a lot of time to filter through it but I don't give up. I feel really individuate at time in this forum and hate to be a bother to others but it is better for me to try everything before I ask the question but sometimes I just get stuck on the simplest things. Been thinking of doing a private consultation with you at some point to work out a few of my other struggles when I can coordinate the time. Thank You!

I was experimenting with using "NOTES" in my sections and it seems to work just fine but the "Auto Detail Tool" it seems like I always have to do work-a-rounds to make it work for me and I haven't really been able to find any instruction for it as far as what I want it to display. In this section it put in the dark color of the interior wall that I use for new walls and so I deleted it and that was fine but then I noticed it did not add the insulation in the attic cripple wall or the faulted ceiling. I just think, if your gonna have a tool like this, you should be able to change setting's or its worthless. If I have to take the time to do work-a-rounds It doesn't really save me any time. Maybe I'm just missing something simple, It would be the first time! I'm getting older and dumber it seems. As always I appreciate any help I can get.

I'm a little perplexed with the "Auto Detail" tool It can be a pretty useful tool but what if I only want the insulation to show or just the concrete fill and non of the other fills? Is there a way to turn thinks on and off individually? Any help would be appreciated. I tried to find help on it and I was unsuccessful. Thank You

Is the grade level and the terrain level two different things? When I put the story pole in the exterior elevation, it doesn't line up with the terrain height. I never used the story pole tool before so this is new to me.

Yes it worked! Thank you Perry!

Can anyone tell me why this library download is hung up at 99%? I'm afraid to shut it down to interrupt it. This comes off the heals of upgrading to X12. Help is always appreciated

Never mind, I found what I was looking for. I had trouble locating the help files because I didn't know how to word it. Anyone interested in knowing what I found it is here: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00603/saving-changes-and-prices-entered-into-a-materials-list.html

Can someone tell me the best way to enter cost of framing materials into the materials sheet so that each time I bring up a new materials list it will remember the per piece or per foot number that I entered? Help would be much appreciated.

California Assembly Bill 68
builtright3 replied to builtright3's topic in Building Codes and Compliance
I'm assuming the unincorporated area's wont be fighting it. Just curious to see how some of the cities like Whittier, Downey, La Mirada... will handle it. -
Is anyone familiar with this California Bill? AB-68 Land use: accessory dwelling units. I'm just now learning of it and it could open a lot doors for more construction in California. Bill comes into affect on January 1 of 2020 Here is the link for the Bill: https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billNavClient.xhtml?bill_id=201920200AB68 Also; https://carlaef.org/adus/?gclid=Cj0KCQiAz53vBRCpARIsAPPsz8XIFyj5Pp4pbcvnNiCvzvN6e3QHo0zfNFadDcv4LfuIEYYZy7QbTOoaAvm4EALw_wcB

Yes, that is perfect because it is in line with everything else I'm doing! Same as you. I agree! Deleting is more fun than typing or searching!!! The added step I'm taking is saving each note to the Library just in case I delete a note and I want to go back and recall it. Thank You Perry!
-
Are you kidding me! I don't even want to respond I feel so stupid. I cant believe I overlooked add to library. Even after all the hours of training I been through. Thank You Michael !

I do the same thing but what I don't understand is; When I make a note, is there a way to save the text for the note? If the note number gets deleted or moved you lose the text with it and its gone forever. You either have to retype the information or have it saved somewhere so you can cut and paste it. I was thinking of using user defined macros to save the note.
-
Perry, Can you elaborate a little more on how you organize your note schedules? I'm curious because I use a lot of your techniques and I have been struggling with how to not only organize them but how to save all the text (notes). Not sure If I should be saving the notes in my macros or as a schedule somehow.... It just seems awkward to me. If you can, enlighten me a little Thank You

Thank you very much for the added information I really appreciate it! I'm familiar with editing dimensions as you explained from when I went through my classes, I just couldn't find the setting for it to work with the automatic dimensions. Rene pointed to exactly what I was looking for.
-
That did it! I should have been able to find that but I have been very sick and its affecting my work. Thank You!!!
-
Anyone's help would be much appreciated; I cant seem to find a setting that keeps this dimension line from crossing through my window label. These are automatic dimensions I'm working with.

I was over lapping instead of snapping it at the corner. I got it to work now. Thank you for your help!

Anyone know how to make these stair turn the corner?
