  1. When I use automatic dimensions for elevations, I have a dimension default set (usually through an annotation set); the dimension default is defined to only locate a few items, and has the font size, and arrow size defined - otherwise, you will get a lot of dimensions that are difficult to read. I typically use the interior elevation with the "NKBA general annotation" and you can see how it works with the auto NKBA dimension; if the annotation set is "1/4 Scale" it looks very messy. See my two examples. The difference was the annotation set with the correct defaults define. I don't do a lot of exterior dimensions; hence my interior example.
  2. For that type of cabinet, I would use partitions and a polyline solid, shaped, as slab door. You can create custom doors – here’s a video: video.chiefarchitect.com/?autoplay=10046
  3. Cheryl, a sharing feature would certainly be helpful and it's on our list of things to consider in near future
  4. Jon, we have been forecasting the Android version at the end of June.
  5. We are aware of the feature request to set hardware by face item. The solution for your situation, as Graham suggested, is to mark NO hardware in the DBX; then, place the hardware as a stand-alone item from the Library.
  6. Jon, we will have a wall thickness setting in the next release of Room Planner.
  7. Tony, can you post your file? Framing members, like trusses, require the roof and/or ceiling platform, otherwise they cannot be placed or can disappear if the ceiling or roof change
  8. Here's one idea: 1. in the attic, Draw a wall and mark it as an 'Attic Wall' 2. place a doorway in the attic wall; use a broken arch option to match the curve of the ceiling Another option would be to draw a custom shape using a polyline solid in an elevation view
  9. Use the polyline solid tool; watch this video segment - it starts around 0:51 into the video. http://video.chiefarchitect.com/?playlist=50 - video # 10103
  10. Larry: I did an auto build roof, then copied only the handful of new roof planes I wanted, then did an undo and pasted in place the roof planes.
  11. Ross, it looks like you have a lot of things going on; auto roofs has a completely different look; I modified some of your walls and roof pitches (4/12) to get close to what you may be looking for. 1. add attic wall and modify in 3D 2. used auto roofs with 4/12 3. changed some of your walls 4. lowered roof 12" Ross & Chase Dietzer Residence-sh.zip
  12. Have you explored the 3dlibrary.chiefarchitect.com?
  13. You could also open that one dimension setting and change the 'smallest fraction'
  14. Sketchup now has the 64 bit API we needed for the Mac; so, this should be solved in the near future with an update in X7.
  15. Pam, I use a 15" MacBook Pro and a Lenovo laptop; I really like the track pad on the Mac it is far superior to any I've had on a PC. The MacBook Pro is a great machine.
  16. Larry, here's a video on creating a custom door / drawer in Chief: Creating a Custom Cabinet Door
  17. Joe, interesting trick. How do you then apply a new material (tile) into this niche?
  18. Charlene, raise the elevation and thickness of your p. solid; BTW, I usually draw these in an elevation view to avoid figuring out the dimensions for the elevation.
  19. A preferred method to use for showers is the backsplash tool. The video that shows this is 5218.
  20. Hi Richard, this is a good intro video for kitchen and bath designers. Further, we offer 1-1 online training that is very effective if you're interested. Just give us a call we can talk through the details of the program. Video: Introductory Best Practices - Kitchen, Bath & Interiors
  21. Hi All, Chief Architect has assembled a 2015 User Feedback Panel of 10 experienced Chief Architect members. The purpose of the panel is to provide feedback during the development of the next version of our software. We appointed these members early in 2015 and will be using their feedback as we progress in our development life cycle. This early feedback process is intended to help provide more usability input earlier; so, by the time we reach the point of pre-release (beta) that input can be incorporated. The User Feedback Panel will be meeting on Aug. 31 to wrap up their efforts and then be attending our User Group Meeting on Sept. 1. If you are thinking of attending the Chief Academy (User Group Meeting + Training), you can meet this group of power users. Members of this panel include this list of power users below. And, in the additional posts below you can see more about each of our panelists. We are thankful for their time and input in this process and are very excited to add this panel as another method for customer feedback.! 2015 User Feedback Panelists: Joseph Carrick Cheryl Crane Scott Hall Perry Hanstad Larry Hawes Mark McAniff Niclas Persson Wendy Welton Glenn Woodward

  23. The Room Planner app for Android is scheduled for Q2 of this year. And, if anyone is interested in beta testing the app, send us an email: beta@chiefarchitect.com
  24. Michelle, in Preferences you can check which video card you are using. Radeon should have an app to choose with software programs use its card. You can also check to make sure your Intel driver is up to date; a good idea too for your Radeon driver. Finally, you can force Chief to use one of the video cards by right clicking on Chief's icon and select your video card.
