Hi Westvale, Try looking at your "Dimensions, Plan" layer text style. Probably set to 1/4" text style. If you change to 1" text style while you need it and then change back to 1/4" text style.
-
I have seen this in the past, I delete and resend the view. That usually fixed it.
-
Look at the drawing sheet setup and see what the line weight setting is.
-
I would consider using the landing tool, you can set the height, thickness, shape it, railing on/off individual sides as needed. hth

Hi Garreth, I think you can change the text style for the schedules by the layer (look in Active Layer Display Options) under schedules and change to 1/4" or 1/2" text style) or the individual schedules to use a custom size under the main title on the left of the dbx.

The picture on close inspection is a cable railing with 2x4's set inside of the cables. I would suggest using the cable railing panels in the library and make the 2x4's in a cross section out of 3d solids as you first mention. Then block them and move into position in plan view.

Decor: what's best practice for painting interior walls
MPDesign replied to GeneDavis's topic in General Q & A
In your default wall type. I like to add a 0" thick layer inside the drywall, set to the paint color of your choice. I think it should report as square feet in a material list. and other ways I'm sure -
Well it took a while to find the problem. The model took 5+ minutes to render on my tower also. With only 360,000 surfaces once it generated the view. I started with looking for big symbols from imported objects. Then deleted all furniture, cabinets, fixtures, material regions. etc. I think I found the culprit, the layers in the picture have cad blocks and hidden pdf files in the plan. I marquee select the items on each floor and deleted. Once I deleted these items the 3d camera works as it should. It also reduced the plan file size by 30meg.

see if your elevation camera is set to clip to sides.

Is this happening on all x15 plans? a new x16 plan? how large is your plan file? send a pm if you want more help with trouble shooting.

Hi David, You mention a 3d dwg export. Are you trying to update a 3d symbol? or You might want to try the export as STL file, this will make a 3d symbol of the plan. Open a 3d view in chief and look under File, Export, Export 3d model (STL) Also which version of chief are you using? HTH, cheers

Thank you Brett! I try and keep the solutions within the tools at our disposal. The nice part about this method is you can add multiple trim boards as desired.
-
Hi Jim, I thought about this and tested my theory in X16, it should be the same in previous versions as well. I would suggest that you turn off the fascia and use the shadow board feature as a fascia. The shadow board has the ability to be turned off per roof edge.

We would need to see your settings for the doorway to make sure of an appropriate course of action. Also, what chief version are you using?
-
Try extending the back clip thru (passed) the end of the solid objects.
-
Rob, My guess it is the railing wall type, try changing to your exterior wall type.
-
Are you trying to see from underneath? You could delete the ceiling surface from the roof. Try Increase the size of the purlin also.

Hi Jim, I just tested this, and it appears that you have to explode it to get the look and control of what you want to see. I also don't see any way of setting the appearance in default settings.

Hi Michael, I would consider adding a layer to your roof assembly. Open the roof dbx, structure tab, ceiling section under roof layers, insert a rigid insulation layer above the drywall.
-
Hi Larry, Have you tried to turn off refraction? Not sure if that alone will fix the issue. Try using a backdrop outside also.
-
I'm assuming you are referring to the cables going thru the floor. You could try and make the upper section of the stairs a little narrower. so, your railing clears the opening in the floor. or move the posts and railing towards the couch a bit. also it looks like your floor opening needs to move towards the top of the stairs more. hth

Hi Danielle, Try using "Chief Architect save as PDF" in the printer dropdown. then print the pdf to your printer.
-
In the wall dbx, Roof section on the left, you can set the wall to ballon thru ceiling to get it to match the roof above.

I went from a RTX 2070 8gig to the 4060 8gig and hardly noticed the difference. Maybe 5 seconds faster. My build was from parts ordered from Newegg and totaled around $1900. If I recall the card was about 600 of that number. The price of cards is unreal! No wonder Nvidia is doing so well! I have been tempted, to buy a used 4090 but don't really need/shouldn't spend $1700!
