  1. They can be deleted from your User Library if you created them.
  2. First confirm that the layout view is using the correct layer set. Then select the view layout box & open the spec dbx box; go to "Plan View" & make any corrections to the floor, current anno set & reference flr settings there. Whenever the layout view is double-clicked to access the plan, Chief opens the plan w/ those view properties active. Chief ignores any "lock" that you may be using between the layer set & the anno set. Chief needs to put control of the layer set in this dbx as well, so we can control everything from one place instead of two places as it is currently.
  3. The centering tool is pretty handy, but........... When I need to center a beam or CAD line over a wall, I am looking for the center of the main layer (usually the framing member), not the center of the overall width of the wall. Unless the wall is symmetrical about the main layer, I NEVER want to center a beam or CAD line on the overall width of the wall......NEVER!!
  4. Right you are. I changed that in my defaults a long time ago & forgot about it. Maybe the OOB default should be "Mixed Reporting" or "Cut List". Who wants their pre-cut studs listed by total lineal ft?
  5. the length should be there. You may have to widen the column (just like MS Excel)
  6. Even w/ that Levis, you will still see the wall framing of that attic wall....unless wall framing is not displayed in your section.
  7. You mean something like this Perry? I haven't drawn a manual roof plane in months...........maybe longer.
  8. This is automatic w/ the roof break to flat (actually 1/4" slope) defined in the walls. And a barrel dormer added too.
  9. Change the rafter size for the roof plane to match size of the top chord. same fof cl'g framing. That will clean up sections in those areas. Wall framing for the wall will only build to the clg hgt- truss bottom chord. The wall abv is an attic wall unless you have spec'd for the main wall to "balloon thru cl'g abv". If the roof eave soffit ends up abv the main wall top, the attic wall abv will fill that gap, but it will also frame, which you can manually remove the framing or use a wall type w/ no framing. I think DSH brought up this issue in "Suggestions".
  10. Larry, I made the room abv a "Bedroom" (anything other than "Unspecified") & that seemed to work too. In X6. X5 is unbearable- keep looking for the view/window tabs.
  11. Larry, None of that worked for me.. The plan looked exactly per your images in post #1. In X6, when I changed the cl'g hgt of deck, Chief immediately fixed it. In X5, I had to manually delete the cl'g framing & lose room definition in those 2 rooms before chief got it right. There is definitely something "goofy" w/ the plan though. It was more evident in X5 than X6.
  12. Change the cl'g absolute elevation of the front deck to "Default" instead of the 36" or whatever you had & all is good.
  13. This is what I get in my OOB X6 layout template.
  14. Done this a lot. Tasks can be separated by layers, flrs, disciplines also. Multiple plans sent to layout or copy, paste in place. However it's done, someone (me, IOW) has to stay on top of it all. I know firsthand of several instances over the yrs where this issue was the determining factor for what application was used in larger architectural/ design companies. I couldn't really blame them for choosing something other than Chief.
  15. My understanding of paper sizes is that 11x17 is tabloid/Ansi B & Arch B is 12x18, so it is understandable if you don't get the same results. One thing I had to get used to in X6 was there are now TWO places to make sure you have everything correct now. The Drawing Sheet Setup dbx and the Print View (Layout) dbx. While there were also 2 dbx in X5, a printer could be chosen from the Page Setup dbx, IOW, you could get everything just right from the Page Setup dbx; then when you printed, the Print dbx had everything just as you setup in the Page Setup dbx. This is not necessarily the case in X6. The print preview should be correct when it appears in the Print dbx. If not, there's something amiss.
  16. For split levels, etc, where the foundation ends up on two different flrs, I use a reference set w/ the layout foundation plan. That way you can define the room/flr hgts properly & keep Chief a happy camper.
  17. I don't think it changes wall types when the wall is not set to "Invisible". It used to do that when it would need an attic wall above to show the different c'lg hgts. Now, Chief just builds a "Room Divider" attic wall on the flr abv. That attic wall will need to be changed to a different wall type.
  18. I don't make the "Room Divider" wall type invisible. I don't think it is necessary since it is 0" thickness w/ "no material/air gap" as a material assignment. I have it on the Walls, No Locate" layer & the wall doesn't show in render or vector views even w/ that layer displayed. When it's made invisible, it has a bad habit of changing wall types on me in certain situations.
  19. Display only roof planes. CAD/CAD Detail From View. Copy/Paste-hold.
  20. Another idea to help solve some of these issues is to be able to show the upper or lower wall of a pony wall by layer set.
  21. The default for Floor 1 is 0'-0". That cannot be changed as far as I know. I suppose I could have multiple floors at 0'-0". Tho I can't imagine why. Just one flr (-1) & the foundation level would be great.
  22. Yup. Multiple floors below #1 would be nice.
  23. Up until a couple months ago I used the GTX 580 w/ no problems or slowdowns. I wanted more video outputs & upgraded to the 770Classified card; but the 580 ran X6 very well: I put the card in my wife's PC. Once you get the driver's straightened out, you should be happy w/ this card.
  24. I thought the images illustrated it pretty good. Here's a video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IRb0ZX1l5Lc Zipped plan attached. Can we see a plan from you illustrating how you get auto-detailing on a different layer? Between the two plans, we might be able to figure it out. Auto-Detailing.zip
