  1. I think you are selecting the dimension indicating the length of the wall. It's part of temporary dimensions. You have 3 choices to resize: lock the beginning, end, or center. It's also part of the General Wall defaults. I have it disabled.
  2. I was wrong. You can get an extension snap from a wall that is behind another room/wall. No inference or reference required. Wonder why I didn't get one earlier? I now know much more than necessary about extensions.
  3. Yeah, I'm sure. The extension won't reach thru a wall to get to another wall beyond, but the extension will reach past walls & rooms that are not in the way to get to another wall.
  4. I don't think that is true w/ walls. I don't have to reference any other wall to get an extension line from any other wall. Not on my PC, anyway.
  5. Could be you were seeing a snap extension. Do you have all your snaps enabled? Specifically the 3 extension snaps?
  6. Yeah, that's a PIA for sure. You can zoom in/out w/your mouse wheel w/out losing it though. At least w/ my mouse anyway.
  7. https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/1391-should-i-make-the-move-to-chief-from-vectorworks/page-2 Here is a current in-depth discussion of Chief's offset tool. It starts w/ post #23 I think. A simple search of "Offset" will get this thread & a few more too.
  8. Use the "Concentric" tool. In Preferences, set your jump distance to the 12 "units" you are using, then select the polyline, grab a corner & drag it outward.
  9. Yes, Joe. "Auto Refresh Dimensions" in Defaults/Dimensions/Auto Exterior Dimensions.
  10. draw a new dimension over the part of the existing dimension you don't want. they both will disappear.
  11. Oh my! I leave auto exterior dimensioning on until the very end. They regenerate automatically any time anything is done that requires a dimension change. You can set up auto exterior dimensions to give you anything you want, 1st line offset distance from outside walls, line separation, what to locate, etc. There are NO duplicate dimensions created unless you actually select an auto dimension. Then you will get a duplicate right on top of the one you previously selected. & that DOESN'T include selecting a wall (or window) & then the associated dimension to move that wall/window. It's a HUGE time-saver.
  12. Well, that's one way to do it Glenn. Wish I woulda thought of that. Here it is. Window in Window.zip
  13. No Joe. It's exactly what it looks like. Try it yourself.
  14. Lew, What's in the dbx's isn't important. What is interesting is I was able to have two different windows occupy the same exact space in the same wall.
  15. & it's still not fixed even though it is listed as "fixed" in the update notes.
  16. & you can make the door as thin as the glass & use the material painter to change the 1/16" door frame to your shower glass.
  17. Oops. Didn't read it close enough. Builtright3 has the answer.
  18. Chief creates the hole for you. Edit the little square hole to whatever shape you want.
  19. Yes, it is supposed to revert back to "default edit behavior" when Chief is reopened. What alternate behavior is it indicating needs attention? Get a screen capture of it next time.
  20. Preferences/Edit/Behaviors/Behavior Indicators. Look in HELP. It means you need to do something or you're in an alternate behavior. Very handy.
  21. You also lose the center snap point of the polygon when re-selecting & attempting to move via point-to-point. It's easy enough to get the center w/ perpendicular extensions on, but...........
  22. This will select ALL framing members (except wall framing) that are displayed & the layer not locked, so be careful.
