  1. I agree Joey, we are just trying to get Chief to let us do it within the program. They have come a long way to doing just that, a little more tweaking is all that's needed at this point.
  2. I am using 8.1 and not having any issues like that. I also upgraded from win 7
  3. There are also some file recover programs you can install for free.
  4. IMO get the best video card you can but I don't think you need 8gb, I have 3gb and its been more then enough. I have the NVidia 780 gtx 3gb and it work fine and fast but the best upgrade I ever did was an SSD hard drive, that really kept things fast
  5. Also, do you have lots of things running in the background, especially some older virus protectors can slow you down.
  6. I have the same card and I leave shadows on all the time. No problems here You might try to turn on optimizations and turn off all software edge smoothing off, let the hardware do that
  7. I was just going by your statement earlier, sometimes the sun will never be the way you want it to be, so in those cases, fake it, just for the view. Who really knows if Chief's sun is totally accurate to begin with anyway. I wouldn't guarantee it.
  8. If you want an easy way to put the sun anywhere you want, without sun studies, just delete the sun angle and adjust it manually and put it anywhere you want, I never use the sun angle. You can place it anywhere around the building in 3 seconds, using degree's of a circle. I may not be actuate but its fast and easy. .
  9. Joey does a lot of cad embellishments in his drawings and they look very nice, indeed, but I don't have the time to do that kind of stuff and still make money. Chief has gotten it pretty good in regards to line weights but auto hangers would be very nice as I have to manually add them to the sections now.
  10. Yes, no re-size 3d for me either.
  11. you have to break the foundation wall in section/ elevation view and drag it where it needs to be.
  12. All I did was open the cad block insert it and unblock it, reduce it's size and re-block, changed the name. Then opened the symbol and choose the new cad block. I did not look at it in 3d. took 10 seconds. To resize the actual symbol you have to resize it in the symbol DBX. You may have to re-size and save it as a new symbol there also could be a problem with the symbol I'll look at it again.
  13. I reduced it for you, see if this works smaller cad block plan.zip
  14. it's Here. just pick the block you created
  15. Actually glad you did, sometimes I get ahead of myself and get quite stupid at times. Game time, it so nice to have a tv to watch as I draw.
  16. Dennis must know to unblock it, he's been around forever. Doesn't everyone know that change it means unblock?
  17. You need to put it on the plan using insert, change it then block it, change the name and it automatically back into the cad block DBX, then change the cad block in symbol
  18. Kevin, I really never use the sun angle b/c sometimes you just can't get the sun exactly where you want it. .
  19. If I understand you correctly, make sure you have set your casings to "0" and turn them off, then it should work
  20. You can edit the cad block in the cad block DBX. After resizing it you have to re-block it and re-save it so it shows up in the cad block DBX, then just open the symbol, go to 2d and choose the new cad block.
  21. You have to move the sun on the side where you want the sunlight to go through the window. Easily done using the adjust lights, the sun is in there. I like to put the sun in the corners for good shading, like 225 , 315, etc. but you may need to use a straight on sun to get it to poke through a window. You may also check the suns height and lower it for better results
