Remember to always draw your walls in a clockwise direction. I don't this is effected by the Coriolis
-
You might also find the Reverse Layers button useful. It will be displayed when the wall is selected.

One really useful feature in Vectorworks is the ability to create a polyline with a lasso control. Just draw roughly around the area and the polyline snaps to each outside line within the demised area. It takes about 5 seconds to get beautiful object lines for elevations and details that really pop.

I still use Vectorworks occasionally for commercial work. There is nothing that comes close for making pretty drawing. VW is a unique integration of BIM CAD, and Illustrator-type features There are very nice transparency controls for layers as well as viewports in arbitrary shapes. I'm interested to see how other's respond. Your might try exporting to Sketchup where you can get shadows in plan view and full control of the color palette in Layout.

Thanks you Michael!

I replaced my fussy HP 130NR two years ago with a Cannon IPF 670. The Cannon is a very good printer for my needs, mostly D & E size using 500 foot rolls (get the stand). I can't believe I put up with the HP for so long. Night and day difference in quality, paper handling, speed and economy. It can print posters but for excellent photo reproduction you will need more colors.

I should know this by now, but what is the easiest way to edit the description of an existing electrical symbol. In this case I'm trying to change a core catalog Description field. I'm in the components dialogue window now, but the Description field cannot be edited.

Elevation line weights are light when sent to print to pdf.

Are you using printer name "Chief Architect Save as PDF" ? -
You might try adding a corner board to see what happens. BUILD>TRIM>CORNER BOARDS
-
Thanks, looks like yours worked fine. I was using Build Framing for Selected Object the whole time thinking they were the same. Much appreciated.

Sure, thanks Solver! Wiand_58.plan

Tried that, but it seems to have no effect.

Can anyone tell me what is controlling the depth of these gable end rafters with rafter tails? I do not want the notch.

It's here for SSA support - if you have that you can log-in and enter a new ticket. They are great at responding. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support

Looks like it might be related to the countertop overhang setting, but that's just a guess. I'd add a custom countertop, submit a bug report, and keep on trucking...
-
Does this also occur when the cabinets are placed together with no countertop?

This is becoming a problem for me too as there are three projects on the boards now that need more MEP than I can manage easily with CA. Just received my $20 copy of SuperCool last week but it leaves a lot to be desired as a workflow solution. I've installed a trial copy of Revit which has all the features including a steep learning curve and a high monthly cost. The lack of a third-party platform with CA is hurting. http://www.vectorworks.net/community/partner-community/partner-products/product/extensio-pro http://www.graphisoft.com/archicad/mep_modeler/ https://www.magicad.com/en/

This is great, I was just looking for one last week. Thank you Joe!

resize raytrace jpeg files to view on website

The CA render engine uses the CPU; your CPU chipset may have a (dual) embedded 1GB video chip, which is what the CPU wants to use. In any event, high-end GPU's do not decrease the ray trace render time in CA, for that you need a faster CPU clock speed and more threads.

Any general challenges using chief for small church projects?
Griffin replied to Clemsongrad's topic in General Q & A
Thanks, Michael; this is a pretty good workaround. -
Any general challenges using chief for small church projects?
Griffin replied to Clemsongrad's topic in General Q & A
As with all commercial work in CA: As far as I know it's impossible to properly represent a common steel door and steel frame in a (for example) 12 CMU wall. I have not found a workaround. Suspended ceilings take an Eternity, and you need to 'pray' they don't change. -
Sounds like you need some additional time to study how CA works. There are many great tutorials on YouTube. Below is a link for creating section views, including Add Detail from the CAD menu. If you want to upload your plan, someone here might be able to suggest specific steps, such as adding a stairway. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00766/adding-detail-to-a-cross-section-view.html

Mystery Blurry square when exporting to pdf
Griffin replied to WhistlerBuilder's topic in General Q & A
Yes, I have had the transparency fill problem too, and CA seems to be aware of it. I only print to "Chief Architect Save as PDF" now which works much better and is substantially faster. I'd be interested to know if that solves your problem,- 12 replies
