  1. Chopsaw, I don't think you can use transparency with the standard Select Color dbx. There is a way to copy an existing transparent fill from one object to other objects - but I don't think that you can do it with the Select Color dbx and/or the eyedropper, or colors stored in the library. Select the object that contains the fill color and transparency that you want to copy to another object. Select the Match Properties tool. Check Fill Color and Fill Type. OK. Select Apply Properties. Click on any objects that you want to apply that fill color and transparency to. This will copy both the fill color AND the fill transparency to the new objects. The only shortcoming with this method is that you need to have an existing object with the color and transparency that you want to duplicate to other objects.
  2. If you have SSA, contact Chief support.
  3. When I save several colors, the Custom Colors boxes don't overwrite with each new color. The next box is automatically populated and the previous one remains. You can select the Custom Colors box that you want to populate with a color, select a color from the chart or with the eyedropper and then click Add to Custom Colors. The box you selected will populate with the color. Am I missing something?
  4. The quickest way to get to the current dimension defaults is to double click a dimension tool - as long as Edit Active Default on Double Click is checked in Preferences, which I think it is by default.
  5. The temp dims use the current dim defaults. So open the current dim defaults dbx...Locate Objects panel...Openings...check Centers and uncheck Sides.
  6. By default, railings are marked No Locate - thus, no dims.
  7. Do you have auto rebuild walls/floors/ceilings turned on?
  8. No need to do that, just leave a blank line and chief will auto insert the room name.
  9. Johnny, It's only my humble opinion, but I reckon that image would look 100% better if it contained a couple of people and a car. Just to give it a human scale.
  10. I even got an owners manual when I married Jennie!
  11. Hi Perry, Yes, first grandson. What.......cute is the best you an do! He's better than cute! Just like his grandad.
  12. The Leader Line IS snapping to the midpoint. It is snapping to the midpoint of the END of the framing member.
  13. David, You can open older .pl1 files directly in X8 without converting.
  14. Also... There are a few ortho controls: Angle Snaps is the main one The Primary Movement Method (Orthogonal or Polar) is another Always Snap Walls on Allowed Angles is another Have a look at the Cad Stops Move and Wall Stops Move setting in the line dbx. Have a look for the "Bumping/Pushing for Type in Dimensions" setting in Preferences.
  15. Without seeing the plan, I am guessing it is the Connect Island Rooms setting in the General Wall Defaults.
  16. You can change the default decking material at Defaults...Rooms...Deck Room...Structure panel...Floor...Planks, Joists. Don't forget that if you have actually built a deck with auto deck framing, the deck planks are individual framing members, not just a material applied to a surface. So it makes a difference if you have auto deck framing toggled on. The material painter will only do 1 deck plank at a time - very slow going.
  17. I could fix a lot of the wall problems by just opening the wall's dbx and closing it.
  18. To get the ball rolling. Open the Build Roof dbx...Roof panel...Roof Height...make the Raise/Lower From Ceiling Height, zero. Auto build roofs. You have lots of weird things happening with walls that I don't have time to look at now.
  19. Tami, Even though you don't have a ceiling in the room, the wall height is still controlled by the ceiling height. Raise the ceiling height and the walls and roof will raise (auto or rebuild roofs).
  20. I must of had a brain freeze. There is a setting in the staircase specification dbx for Landing Rail Height, but it doesn't affect the newel height. The best way is to set the newel height to suit the landing, no newel on first tread for the stairs, and then place manual newels on the stairs.
  21. Chop, Do you really need 15-20 different fonts in the one text block?
  22. Chop, I deleted my post because, with a bit more experimenting I could duplicate your problem. You seem to need a certain number of different fonts or other formatting before the problem occurs. In which case, Michael gave the correct answer - use the Layer Color Text on the Appearance panel if you want all the text to be the one color. That seems to preserve all the other formatting.
  23. Am I misunderstanding your question? But why can't you just select the text and change the color? You may have to uncheck Layer Color Text on the Appearance panel of the Rich Text Specification dbx if it is checked.
  24. Alex, Did you want tile or sheetrock on the wall end?
