  1. Just tried your suggestion. Triangles still exist even if I remove all texture files from the cln'g mat'l. Maybe it has to do with insufficient lighting. I haven't dug in on this one yet but thought someone might save me the time if they had encountered something similar.
  2. I've ran into this problem before and don't remember the solution. Working on this kitchen design and the cln'g mat'l is being such a nuisance. Id prefer presenting this particular kitchen in PBR as the levels of sheen really make this stand out in a way that I can't achieve in regular 3d view. 554 MINER RD goofing.plan
  3. Hey Eric,

Being the guru of Auto-roof I wanted to ask, Is it possible to have a shed roof in roof group 0 slope down to a hip which serves as the high shed on a lower garage roof group 1?

I can do it manually but I could not get it to work with auto-build

Here is a terrible pic taken by my company owner for reference:

Not sure I understand how the roofs are set up, but I'm guessing no.

What might be handy when using roof groups is roof directives in walls tied to a roof group, so one wall could have multiple roof directives, each tied to a specific roof group.

All kinds of workarounds used by the Home Designer users that do not have manual roofs.

  4. Off the top of my head I would guess that checking “cabinet filler” in the .dbx might get you what you want...just can’t remember if that retains paneling
  5. Well my idea of phenomenal ended up being WAY too large a file for CA to handle. SO this will have to do for now: lime wash brick texture.calibz
  6. Ha, I removed that line...but appreciate the candor. I can probably make something pretty phenomenal for you.. gonna give it a shot..stay tuned
  7. Check the ticker for "blend with texture" in the brick mat'l dbx under the "texture" tab -would be the might-be-good-enough solution. Alternatively I could build you some good reflection, bump, normals, and ambient occlusions maps. Have an image of what you're looking for
  8. That would be the CAD layer's text style that your current layer-set defaults to. If you were drawing a line with an anno/layer set that defaulted to "CAD,default" then go to layer management and see which text style is being used for that layer. You can set a new text style or modify the existing there.
  9. I’ve had hanging CA issues in past that had to do with other virtual display drivers such as duet or teamviewer. Worth checking
  10. You can always block a slab-poly and click to treat it as a cabinet in the dbx. Then go to your cab schedule and check to include "other" Saying this from memory, should be close to correct
  11. Hard to describe these. Beautiful in plan and 3d line views. even workable in elevations. will adjust transparencies on request. Perfect for color illustration over/under-lays. click this link: RABBITTS CAD TREES.calibz and as always, enjoy!
  12. They use type II dryers, next page of the link I provided
  13. This is an excerpt from San Diego's 2013 code changes Richard pointed out the correct code for type 1 dryers. There may be some work around's that may or may not be worth the effort. The city can approve a manufacturers allowed installation parameters. Take a look here: http://epubs.iapmo.org/2016/CMC/mobile/index.html#p=129
  14. No easy way to do it..I added it to the suggestions forum a couple of weeks ago for the second time. Easiest method for me is to setup anno/layer sets to have all layers off 'cept the layer you wish to print. Send one sheet to the layout and print to PDF. Then switch anno/layer sets and print to PDF again. The using a PDF software like acrobat pro, You can combine and properly switch off layers(tutorials are on the web) Here's an example one I did real quick: Fell Street Electrical Reference.pdf Note that without inserting buttons(HTML etc) to manage layers, web viewers don't typically allow you to turn them on and off. Making it an added layer of complication
  15. anyway back on topic..I'm willing to throw this rendering in Thea and export at whatever reso you need. Small fee would just be for my computers down-time
  16. VERY NICE...I literally just emailed a guy about a 24-120 f4 VR that's why i asked
  17. Could achieve the effect with a png file with transparency, a pattern file for vector views and bump/normals/ambient occlusion maps...if your'e on SSA I'm assuming you're up to x10 and your sig just hasn't been updated? If you make a quick cad sketch of what you want I would help you out
  18. Please post your plan file so we can take a look Typical terrain issues come from too complex a calculation from the terrain engine. Space out your elevation data, use greater intervals, use less elevation data. When you dial it back and have a rough terrain model in place you can then start working in details while error checking
  19. I just looked at the images you posted, I responded based on the plan file which seems to be outdated. The terrain problem you note in our images does not exisst in the corresponding plan file
  20. need to draw proper contours using the terrain elevation tools such as elevation splines. Treat it as if you are building a topo map. Butting two flat elevation regions together makes chief do exactly that, model two flat regions.
  21. Id be willing to tackle this for a fee. Would import the 3d model into an external software. You will get a ton of artifacts using just chief as the textures are very low resolution
  22. Set your railing as a panel style and set the balusters and rails to the specs of your iron posts and rails. Then in 3d place the railing I made and use the material grabber tool to paint the custom material on the curved panel of the railing you just made. The only problem will be that the material paints on both sides of the panel. It should suffice for a client who isnt overly particular
  23. Joe, I'm in line with Perry on this, some plan checkers may just not be up to speed. New energy code requires new framed assemblies meet a U-factor greater than batt cavity fill can achieve on its own. This is a Screenshot from Energy Code Ace: Richard was right on the money in his post. These requirements will be commonplace soon enough for new construction if they aren't already. CA energy commission is tackling the thermal envelope this bout.
