I'm not sure that the clock speed on ram makes a huge difference, I went with 3000, makes a difference for OC With the right setup for backing up files, installing CA's core program to a ramdisk is laughably fast-like words cant describe it- makes me giggle. You should try it, honestly- its like a face slapper. NVME can't touch a Ramdisk the same way an SSD can't compare to an NVME.

I would tend to agree, and not trying to be argumentative, but from real world use I just don't see that much difference between my 1070gtx and my 965m in 3d performance....and I use a ton of complex and high resolution textures. I see real world difference in other rendering software's such as Thea and Lumion FOR SURE. which is why I bought an eGPU. If I could go back in time and build the perfect laptop it would be WAY lighter than my ASUS, it would have a very high end touch screen as working with my iPad remoted into my desktop makes for a very fast workflow. It would have an affordable GFX card(since it is the first thing to become obsolete) an nvme slot or 2 with 64gb+ of ram and a 5ghz 4-8 core CPU. At least one USB-c port. I work 40-60 hours a week in CA doing production drafting and design work. For the type of work I do the Ramdisk and NVME have been hands down the biggest improvements for CA by miles. Especially with making backups, syncing cloud services...CA just does a ton of read/write...I honestly wish I had bought 64gb of ram instead of 32

sometimes its nice to have the reference floor loaded in if its in a different file location so you don't need to open the file to have it available for reference. You could set the referenced floor to an "all off" layer set You could also have an "all off" plan view saved with all reference plan views so that when you open the file it pulls in all reference plans and then use Michaels suggestion

at 4.4 thats stellar if you ever take a look at your resource monitor, CA almost never utilizes more than 4 cores, and typically only 1-2: installing the new X-11 will see huge benefits by placing the temp and undo folders in a ramdisk utilizing something like AMDs free utility that backs the ramdisk up- another step would be to purchase a battery backup as a failsafe. You can also increase the pagefile with enough ram if you have enough space to place the core libraries in available ramdisk as well as the user library- CA becomes screaming fast. My 5 year old laptop outperforms most desktops with the right configuring of file structures and allocation. The only time I use 28 threads is in an external rendering program which I rarely ever get contracted to use as CAs PBR has become so formidable for most cases.

I have a 14 core xeon at 2.2ghz overclocked to 2.5 my quad core i-7 often times outperforms. CA doesn't really utilize the extra cores...so I would not say that a hexacore at a lower/low clock speed would give more power for the intended application. one of the largest upgrades for CA in terms of speed and usibility is a nvme drive, and a ramdisk drive, hands down
-
Core speed is a huge factor with CA, as well as read write speed...wouldn't recommend it. I'd rather have a quad core at 3.6ghz that has an m.2 nvme drive or at least expandable/upgradable m.2

also if you edit your default colors for selection line it will be more apparent to you that a row has been selected. This can be found under edit/preferences/appearance/colors/selection line
-
"click on" is very specific, it will not select, per se, in that it wont give you a strong visual indicator that you have clicked on a row, but it will bring up that icon in your toolbar if you click on a row...assuming you are on a certain version of the Chief Architect software as solver just indicated
-
Click on the row of the item you'd like to open and then click this button in your toolbar; The button is named "openschedulerow"

POST 18 A couple of fireplace goodies. One is a mantle assembly that I had previously uploaded in X10, this one stretches around your firebox and maintains its scaling quite well: The other, a simple distressed and polished wood mantle that I'm sure may be used for things other than just mantles. I setup the stretch planes around the notches in case you'd like to make a thick shelf: DOWNLOAD: RABS FIREPLACE MANTLES.calibz CLICK TO GO BACK TO THE INDEX!- 245 replies

POST 16 A cable railing with a bit more detail-made for California where the cables can't deflect so far as to allow a 4" ball to poke through. Just to note, no bottom rail, bottom rail spaced 2-7/8" from decking- posts set to 4.53" railing height at 42" This will make it so that the studs on the posts align with the cables.
