BennyD
I'm trying to get rid of the subfascia and show rafter tails as in a traditional craftsman style, but can't seem to find the actual setting for this? This is my second run evaluating Chief so I'm trying to learn as much as possible in 30 days. I've started by reading the manual and watched videos and also remember a lot since last time (can't remember which version) and I feel a lot has happened since then. Just that I apparently can protect edited roof planes is a great step to me. The 3D looks great, the slider is useful and suddenly the way I look around in 3D and zoom in is usable. Hopefully this is it this time.
johnny
Its in the structure section of the roof plane tab.
BennyD
I'm obviously doing something wrong, but I have that unchecked and I'm rebuilding the roof, but it still shows in the framing?

Keep in mind, never post the plan so somebody can help you out.

johnny
Actually he may be right. I swear this is how i've done it before and I just opened a new file and tried to turn off the sub-facia and it rebuilds and re-checks the box automatically. Its like the app isn't listening to the request.
johnny
OK, here is a basic roof file - I wasn't able to turn off the sub-fascia like I have in the past. I could swear that is how i've gotten it to work before. subf.plan
BennyD
My apologies, I've seen the request for posting the plan reading earlier posts but thought this was a very general question.
glennw
It works for me. Depends wether you are auto building roofs or manually building roofs. This error message may shed some light. http://screencast.com/t/szSHUf3py3
johnny
So I was going through the "framing" menu which has similar tools as under the specific roof framing section. Is it a bug then that you can't control the same info under the general framing Dbx? Yes, I got mine to work like Glenn did, but if you can't control it under the "general framing" section (see my video) Chief should probably just grey that out - so you know. Thanks Glenn - in some ways I am glad to know about that nuance. (edit - I really think this is a bug. The settings under the general framing Dbx should also work for this function since its the same info - right?)
DRAWZILLA
I like to make my sub fascia 1/16" thick, that way I keep the control to the overhang depth and the sub-fascia is gone. And so it doesn't show in vector view also make it an invisible material.
