Copying an entire plan

Does anyone know how I can place an entire plan into another, existing plan? I would like to place two homes side by side but they were built in separate files.

What are you trying to accomplish? 

Is this to be able to do a render view of both houses?

Open both plans.

 

Go to the plan to copy; zoom out until you can see everything; then Edit>Edit Area>Edit Area (All Floors) & draw the marquee around everything; then Edit>Copy.

 

Go to the plan to paste; then Paste.

I would first copy a floor outline only and postition that polyline first then do as  Robert said.

if you need to build/rebuild roofs separately

or have complex terrain

 

I find it easier to keep the plans separate and make a 3D symbol of one of the houses

add it to the library

then add that symbol to the "master" plan

Shoot an orthographic overview then Tools>Symbol>Convert to Symbol.

Yep. 

 

And a tip for after:  Your window glass will not raytrace the same.  Glass in windows in chief is "magic glass", but not in symbols.  Use the Rainbow tool to select glass in your symbol, material properties tab, turn Reflectance and Transparency both up to maybe 75%.  Otherwise you'll get this flat greyish window thing.
