Changing the floor of an element

Hello

I've created an architectural element on a wrong floor level. When viewing the project with orthographic floor overview, I see this element is on the wrong floor (it's flying above the floor). How can I change the floor attached to that element? I tried the explanation from the CA site, but it doesn't work. They say to select the element within the orthographic floor overview, click on copy, change the floor indicator, but it is no more possible to paste it (parameters of copy are no more accessible). I find a way: to put the element in the library, delete it on the plan, change floor, and reimport the library element, and move it to the right place. This is quite long. Is there not a possibility to just change a parameter linked to the element?

Thank you

A.

@DBCooper  I don't know why, it doesn't work on my PC. I select the object, I do a cut, then I change floor but the pointer wants me to indicate where to paste it. As I have no reference point, I have to place it anywhere and the again try to align it

Please post the plan file.  Export an unconnected plan file if you are using managed projects.  Make sure to close the file prior to trying to post it if you are using unmanaged projects.

When you paste, use Paste Hold Position (Edit > Paste > Paste Hold Position) while places the object at the same X, Y position.

@Scottharris

The object is at its right position but has a wrong floor level. Example : Floor 1 goes form 0-2500mm, Floor 2 from 2700-5200mm. The object is at position height 4000mm, clearly at floor 2 level but the floor 1 has been assigned by CA to it. If I look the plan of floor 2 the object doesn't appear or if I look to an Orthographic Floor Overview with floor level set to 1, I see the object floating above the floor 1. I just want to indicate to CA to change the assigned floor level. Is there no easy solution other than duplicating the object, pasting it at the other floor level, and realigning it? Should be just a parameter linked to the object that you should be able to change in the open object dialog.

Thank you everybody... I found the paste and hold position command in the menu. I was lost because the pasting icon disappears from the status bar once you change floor level. I didn't see that the function was still active in the drop-down menu.

Great!

An additional tip that will help when pasting...

The hot-keys for paste and hold are Control + Alt + V.

Also for others having difficulties, after pasting, double check out the elevation reference. You still may need to adjust the height depending on the elevation reference for the 4000mm.
