Gary-Doski
So, besides the "hide terrain intersected by building" check box, and making a custom solid, what other ways have users got the grass to grow under a room?
DBCooper
Try this: Select the terrain perimeter. Use the "make terrain hole around building" tool. This takes the auto generated hole and converts it into a manual terrain hole. Select the hole and reshape as needed.
CharlesVolz
Or, place the terrain on Floor 0 so that cantilevered building areas like boxed windows do not cut a hole in the terrain. Only your foundation walls influence the terrain cut out. 2

Gary-Doski
Yeah, that's how I get it done, then copy it as a cad line to the 1st floor, but seems like it should figure this out automatically

I would not mess with terrain on floor 0.
Gary-Doski
The terrain on floor "0" has worked fine for years, but now they have the terrain hole option which is much better way to go. Thanks for the info guys!!

I assume then if I change a wall, I need to go do it again? If so, to avoid the rinse repeat over and over again, I'll leave it on floor 0. if it is automatic then yes floor 1 sounds like the better option
DBCooper
If you use the "make terrain hole" feature, it is then manual and you will have to update it anytime you move walls. Do whatever you think is easier. There are times though, like when you have a stepped foundation/floor plan, that moving the terrain down or even up a floor still won't give you what you need. In these cases, you have to make your own terrain hole.
