ChiefArchitect
Unfortunately, versions earlier than X2 are not supported on Windows 7. Versions 9 and 10 were released in 2003 and 2005 respectively, and Windows 7 was not released until 2008, so there was no way to test those versions on that platform before their release. You can find a full list of supported Operating Systems for each version here: http://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00027/. Kbird1
you could try WinXP compatibility mode in win7 and see if it works. M.
DavidJPotter
I have versions 7-X1 installed on a hard drive that runs XP x32. Versions X2-X7 I run on a hard drive that runs Windows 7 x64 I intend to add another SSD hard drive on which I will run Windows 10 when it comes out. There is NO "fits all" solution out there, things run in an environment they were designed to run in and that is that, the rest are just ways to waste time. Mainewood
Will earlier Chief Architect versions 9 & 10 run on Windows 7? I am running 9.5 on windows xp using a "virtual machine" within my windows 7 operating system. I also run X6 on windows 7.
mydog8it
I couldn't get version 10 to run on Windows 7. It was years ago, so I can't remember why - just that it wouldn't work.
Kbird1
@Mainewood how well does the 3D work in a Virtual Drive , I thought that 3D acceleration wasn't enabled ? or is that just in the MS XP-Mode not the one you are using? Best bet is to just do a dual boot with XP and run it natively if needed.

mydog8it
I am running Ver 10 on Windows 7 and Win 10 with no problems. Both are 32 bit versions of the OS. My windows 7 is 64 bit and version 10 wouldn't work. Maybe that's the problem.
Bob_Medvetz
Joy, 64 bit may be the problem. Have you downloaded the Vista update to Ver 10? Here is the link to it. http://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/updates/update10fhist.html You will also have to update the Hardware lock too. mydog8it
I had it working on vista, so I'm assuming I did, but it was years ago so I'm not sure. (I don't have a need for 10 now since I've already updated/redrawn all of my old plans. Just trying to help others troubleshoot...)
