nicole67
I am a new/beginner user of CA and I am planning to purchase a laptop to run it. I need to go with the laptop option due to portability between home and the shop. I am not extremely versed in computer hardware specs, but do know the basics and understand the minimum requirements for CA. I have my eye on a Dell Precision M6800, but have also been considering an Alienware laptop. I'm really not looking for a custom build at this point, just want to get something ordered quickly and start working. Any comments on these two options or recommendations for other ones? Any info would be appreciated, TIA!
DRAWZILLA
Just get the best processor and video card you can afford. That's the basic's of what it all boils down to.
Joe_Carrick
The ASUS 17" G74 series works very nicely. It's not a light machine but it works really well.

Joe_Carrick
Nicole, You should be able to get a Loaded ASUS 17" Laptop and a Targus carrying case for about $1800.00 or even less.

donnabagdy
I appreciate the recommendations in this Q&A. However concerns over weight were mentioned. Does anyone recommend a smaller but powerful laptop, lighter, thinner maybe 13-15 inch screen? Lookinging to use this with a 27 inch monitor. TIA
Kiwideziner
Most of use have computer specs in our signatures, this will give a reasonable idea what others are using. However you cant tell how old the systems are in most cases. Just make a list of 10 or so and you should be able to narrow it down a bit.
