Plan view is by default "Vector" in nature, whereas camera views have the choices of various render techniques. This sort of question comes up from time to time but I suggest that you make it a "suggestion" for future versions in terms of flashier, more Artistic, floor plans. It is merely not the current or past focus of this software (pretty floor plans).

You could do a 3d view and then use the cross section slider tab to do a slice into the house (from about four feet above finished floor)

Then go back to the 3D tab and look for view direction. Select top view.

This will give you a plan view which can be rendered using one of the various rendering options.

It's not exactly what you may be looking for...but close.

I do similar but use the orthographic floor overview. I change that to the top view and shoot a watercolor rendering. I sent that to layout and then I modify a layerset to use for a vector view so I can get the lines for windows and doors to show up. I sent that as a vector view and overlay that on the watercolor.
