Elevation views becoming pixelated when sent to layout

Hey ChiefTalk, how's it going?

I've been sending some elevation views to layout at 1" = 1', in the same manner I do for floor plans (except at a larger scale), but the elevation views become pixelated and really bad looking on the actual layout. Does this have something to do with the scale of the drawing being relatively large at 1" = 1'?

The view I've been sending to layout has been in Line Drawing View, because I don't want the color of the vector view or any of the other views (the room in question has a lot of black tile that would make the elevations useless). Is there a better way than switching to Line Drawing View to get a plain, B&W line drawing of an elevation? Perhaps there's a way to switch other view types to black and white?

My end goal is getting four elevation views on one page without looking like crud - attached is an image of what I've been getting (pic 1 actual elevation, pic 2 bad one). I've tried sending it to layout in various different ways but the same thing happens every time.

Everyone's time and patience is really appreciated, I'm still fairly new to CA and haven't been able to find the answer on my own.

Plot lines in send to layout dbx does good, but you are saying line drawing among the 3d presentation styles. Right? If yes, I never used those as a layout elevation view. But there are settings related to line smoothing and "strugle amplitude" can't remember the exact wordings though, since not arround pc.

Send to Layout as "Plot Lines" .  This should give you a clean crisp view with black lines.

I really wanted to try this option, but for whatever reason, it's grayed out and unselectable. Do you know how I might be able to change that? I fiddled with all the options in the dialogue, and none of them made Plot Lines selectable.

Should work fine for an elevation view for Send Options of "Current Screen" or "Entire Plan View".

You have to change the rendering technique to vector view first, then plot lines will be available, not available from a line drawing.

Thanks for the help everyone, that did the trick. I wish I had thought to try that myself.

Cheers!

my address has changed and I want to update the existing layout sheets with a new template. How do I go about doing so?  Anybody got any ideas of how to make this change.

Have some pre-set cameras in my template for basic b/w exterior linework views that then sync to the .layout file cover sheet  - which is great in theory but my cameras don't seem to want to behave:

Of course sending to layout as an 'image' solves this - but I wonder why the cropping changes when using the live camera?

I tried a second camera view and it seemed to work more closely to how you would expect. Nearly identical cropping on these two:

      Hello,

I am having issues with using the "active views" on Sheet Layouts. I just recently found this and thought it would save me a lot of time.

What I'm having an issue with:
      1. It seems to be very slow, but I'm not sure if that's because of the file size? Or because I know have a bunch of Active Views for both Exterior and Interior 3D views?
      2. After sending an active view to the layout sheet, It works great until I "File Save as" a new file (when I have to make changes to a design). When I go to "Relink File" and "Update View", it re sizes the image back to the original size, so I then have to resize / zoom the image back in large to fit onto the Layout.

Any ideas on how to keep the active image resized and only have to relink / update the view?

I have attached some Images to help explain.

      thanks in advance,
      Angela

      Hello Chief friends,

I've been struggling and searching this topic but cannot seem to come up with the information that I am looking for. Basically, I have a sloping site and want to draw the uphill stemwall (top) 2'0" higher than the downhill wall. The floor system will ledger off the uphill wall, and the uphill stemwall top should finish about 2'0" higher than subfloor elevation. Wood wall framing will then be 2'0" shorter on this uphill side. Additionally, I'll be using some retaining walls extending off of the foundation to retain the up hill fill material.

I was able to "drag up" the top of the stem walls on the uphill wall to gain this two feet of elevation. However, there are all sorts of issues with wall intersections that I cannot seem to clean up. I think that what I am after is forcing the taller wall to run through, but I can't seem to force that in my foundation drawing or 3d view. There has to be a better way... Also, now the subfloor and some trim is sticking through the stem wall.

      I'm running x12 on MacOSX.

Appreciate any help you all can provide!

      Thanks,
      Austin

I am doing a remodel and have created a separate existing building file and am using it as an underlay to show where walls are being removed:
BUT, when I export the views to layout, they all default to the last view I export. Here I export the first floor:

So far so good. Here are the settings:

Then it all goes awry. This is what happens when I export the second floor:

      And now the third...

This only happens with this one plan. Could using the plan reference be messing things up? Has anyone seen this before?
