  1. Would Style Palettes do what you want? I haven't used them, so I'm not sure, but you might look into it. If not you could create copy's of your wall types which use the alternate materials and then quickly change wall types using the Select Similar tool.
  2. It's the russian doll doorway! Could you now add 3 small fixed glass units into each of those 3 lites so they can all have a different color of stained glass?
  3. Ahh...Nothing wrong with that at all in my book, but since you hadn't shown an example until now, I assumed that you thickened the bottom frame width to get the heavier look of the mulled units the others are doing. When you do that you can't have a separate color per below example without a p-solid. You could leave the casing on the window to get it, but then you get a hollow area behind the casing. Like I said.. minor issue.. just depends what one is after.
  4. Good point! This method does work much easier. Only minor drawback I can find is that if you want the window sash to be a different material/color then on the 'exterior' side you'd need to add a p-solid casing at the bottom of the window.
  5. Nice!.. thanks for sharing. Is that tread pattern popular in Alaska?
  6. Not possible. I believe @Joe_Carrick recently requested that Chief add this ability which would be really nice to have.
  7. @CElderWell...I got you most of the way there. You're running into several different Chief stairs challenges here. If you want to paint the ceiling of the bottom of the stair stringers white, you'll have to create a p-solid ceiling in a section view. As it is I created one to fill in the upper triangular section of wall on the Dining Room side above the railing. I tried other solutions there including pony walls, but couldn't get a good result. Others may be able to suggest a way. The wall railing on the left side you could turn off the pickets. Chief won't build it correctly as just a hand rail because of that hole in the wall on the Dining Room side so I drew that rail manually. 1145248546_stairrailissue_R1.plan
  8. Ahaa!... dang that was clever!!!
  9. Sorry, your question wasn't clear... but now I think I realize what you were asking was how to get the text to print at the same printed height in two differently scaled drawings. Glenn's advice should get you there... best!
  10. Oh really?!?... I selected the adjacent finished hoods to the right on the wall and when selected they show up as cabinets, not symbols? Now I'm guessing perhaps you placed a symbol over a regular cabinet... will have to look at that again... but though I tried tab selecting and could only get the cabinet.
  11. Sure, you can copy and modify a wall from the library, it just depends what you want/need. Brick veneer.... do you mean 'thin brick' or full size brick? If thin brick it just mortars in place like tile. If you're thinking full size brick you'll need to consider the weight and proper support, then you'll also need ties to hold it against the wall. Stone veneer varies a lot in thickness, but the thinner ones would mortar in place just like tile/thin-brick on a decent substrate. You can probably get away with regular drywall, but I would recommend a fiberglass surfaced product.
  12. Nice... I was wondering if that could be done, but I have to say that after looking at the model for a while, it feels like one of Michael's puzzles! I see you have to two stacked angle front cabinets on the left size of the wall as a start, but how did you rotate them without turning them into a symbol?
  13. You're kinda on the right track, but you flipped your example and then some... instead consider that if 1/8" = 6" and 1/4" (2/8th)=12", then 3/8"=18" and 5/8" would be 30"
  14. Man, that's aggravating... will be curious to know if there's a solution.
  15. Definitely the material region or one of various ways of making solids seems the way to go (countertops is yet another)... but FYI there is a little trick to keeping walls from connecting in some cases where it's causing problems.. (often encountered where railings meet other wall types) and that is to use a short section of invisible room divider wall perpendicular to the two wall types you're trying to keep separated.
  16. The railings look the same, but compare settings under the 'wall types' panel. Same wall type used? Have you tried dragging the correct railing over the top of the incorrect railing? Those just a few easy ones to look at but could be a many other things... if those don't work attach plan as Eric suggested.
  17. If it helps your searching, the columns in that picture are known as 'ionic' style House style would be Greek Revival
  18. Aah.. I see it now. I guess it would stop at the ridge of the lower gable then.
  19. Clever, but do you even need/want that attic wall?
  20. LOTS of priors on this issue... 9X out of 10 its due to the walls penetrating the bld'g envelope and thus being directly lit by the sun. Check for that, then if that doesn't work, dial the sun waaaay down to something like 1000
  21. Is it possible to copy a Box Bay Window? (without turning into a symbol)
