One Person Architectural Firm - Chief Architect ?

John: welcome If you are doing detailed CD's Lite may not be the product for you as it is intended for K&B and other Interior Designers who really don't care what is going on behind the walls/floors etc you get plenty of advice from users on this forum but I would suggest calling CA's sales team and discussing your needs CA does offer a "full credit" towards upgrade so if you start with Lite and find it isn't meeting your needs you can upgrade to the full Premier verify with CA's sales team how this works Lew -

Why Isn't Line Weight In Plan And Layout The Same?
lbuttery replied to Nicinus's topic in General Q & A
Perry: I don't understand how anno-sets relate to the steps Glenn listed in post #15 ??? I don't use anno-sets but I understand the basic principles yet, that doesn't correlate with me concerning what Glenn posted My understanding would be to use Glenn's steps first then use anno-sets as you describe Lew -
Why Isn't Line Weight In Plan And Layout The Same?
lbuttery replied to Nicinus's topic in General Q & A
Perry: how can those steps be done via anno-set ? if so, then why did Glenn post them for the OP ??? don't like that example - then look for other uses there are a "zillion" of them if you care to open your mind Lew -
What Would Be 1 Thing You Would Love To See Ca Fix Or Add?
lbuttery replied to ragetoca's topic in General Q & A
....I haven't used any of those settings in years! Joey: so what ??? Glenn had a need to post them therefore the macro would have use for a newbie record-able macros would be for users that don't know what they are doing within the program, and aren't likely to learn with crutches like those sorry to disagree but when time allows I plan to show how recorded macros can be used for creating demos just like Scott and others do they can be run step by step inside the plan the viewer can then examine the various dbx settings etc - then continue on these are also just examples of how to use recordable macros there a zillion other "tasks" that could be useful to some, while others for others open your mind to the possibilities instead of being a "nattering nabob of negativity" .... Alan: yes, the power of macros and recorded macros will be "legion" once CA gives access to all the data internal to Chief Lew -

Why Isn't Line Weight In Plan And Layout The Same?
lbuttery replied to Nicinus's topic in General Q & A
Glenn: here is another recorded macro: 1. turn on recorder 2. In your Drawing Sheet Setup dbx, the Drawing Scale should be 1/4" = 1'0" 3. set Line Weights toggled on 4. loop thru wall types dbx and define all wall layers Line Weight by unchecking "By Layer" in the Wall Type Definitions dbx 5. Go Preferences...Appearance...Line Weights...Minimum Display Weight and set to zero 6. turn off recorder 7. save macro as "line weight settings" then run this macro whenever needed in any plan needed or after playing around with line weight settings while checking out someone's plan etc Lew -

Glenn: I just posted one in the the "living area annoyance" thread with my health issues I really don't have time to concentrate on much these days sorry if you don't understand that what energy I have is being spent my museum If you are truly interested in the benefit of recorded macros you will stop issuing challenges and try thinking of some yourself but I will be watching this forum and anytime I see repeatable steps that can benefit from a recorded macro I will point them out who knows I may even have a day free of other activities and will bang around in chief and document a few others I will play your game even though I am sure you will try your best to shoot each example down but I will post them anyways for others who may be really be interested in the benefits Lew -

What Would Be 1 Thing You Would Love To See Ca Fix Or Add?
lbuttery replied to ragetoca's topic in General Q & A
Glenn: will try when time allows very busy setting up my museum when CA first announced they were working on macros I sent Chris Tenabrink about 6 samples but have no idea where they are now since PC died in Jan Meanwhile, when working on a plan and you find yourself repeating a task think how it would be nice to record those steps and be able to repeat whenever needed Lew -

I've learned to be leary of "lifetime warranties" I bought my first VCR in 1980 for $1400 at a local vendor instead of at Sears because they had a "lifetime warranty" and "lifetime" access to their video library this was when blank VHS tapes cost $13 each 3 years later they were out of business but it didn't matter as I had already moved from NY to DE due to a job change Lew

What Would Be 1 Thing You Would Love To See Ca Fix Or Add?
lbuttery replied to ragetoca's topic in General Q & A
The problem with 'macros' is as the program evolves and the code is rewritten they no longer function... Microsoft Excel is a prime example Bill: yet, millions use Excel macros everyday are we avoid all the "power" that macros can add because things might change ??? life changes - everything changes adjust - adapt - improve or don't use macros even while the rest of us are they would/should be optional to getting things done in chief Lew -
Siding Disappears When A Room Divider Connects With An Exterior Wall

ok, warnings can range from 0% to 100% (ala Glenn) I don't think there should be 0 or 100 so now we are discussing how many - X obviously X will vary from user to user my only point was they can be "handy" especially when the consequences can have an "impact" each and every warning should be controllable via preferences/defaults Lew
