I have not experienced this on my PC in X9 or X10, so my advice is to contact Tech Support and see if they can help you, it is something specific to your computer as opposed to Chief. DJP

I have noticed the same phenomena in both X9 and X10, especially cabinets, seem to have become myopic relative to walls, very annoying and unnecessarily time-consuming.We should complain this to Chief as a bug, I think. DJP

Just Started Using Chief Architect.
DavidJPotter replied to RobersonConstruc's topic in General Q & A
Number one: Carefully read the "Users Guide" found under the "Help Menu", You do not build a structure exactly following the procedure you commonly use in the field Number two: watch the following video series by Dan Bauman on You Tube: There are more at YouTube but these will get you started right DJP -
Free PDF printer apps are many and varied, I used CutePDF for years until Chief came out with its own dedicated app. If I had a deadline to get something done I believe I would download and install Cute PDF or one of the others and then see if I could not just get my work done, contacting Tech Support can wait till later. The issue is "Layers" and the fact that there are several "Display Options" Dialogs (Most newer users do not know this fact), there is a different "Layer Display Options" dialog for plan view, Reference Display, and each camera type has its own "Display Options" Dialog. They all look identical but they are certainly not. So you can order "ON" certain layers in plan view, then create a camera view and in the ordered camera view those layer objects you could see in plan view are missing in the camera view. They key to this is knowing that all "Display Options" Dialogs are not the same, Check and you will see that if missing in one "Display Options" Dialog it is simply a matter of finding the offending layer and turning it "ON" in that layer set. Thanks, Michael, I used to also own a ".net" domain, now I just own a ".com" so that embedded link was to the same page on a domain that I no longer use, it is fixed now, thanks for bringing that to my attention! DJP

I guess like any new feature with variables, it is just lame for now (PBR). That it also negatively impacted Ray Tracing is a double wammy of badness. New features should not degrade existing ones. DJP

No, I did not see it. Do you mean the one tagged "X10"? If so yes, I did download that and install it with the same results as the X9 one you offered. DJP

I will be happier when they put the "Reflections Slider" back in X10 on the "Properties" tab, till then, I am unhappy. DJP
-
Yes, same problem, no texture installation or association. DJP
-
I downloaded the textures and manually reassociated them with each material, that seemed to have worked. The .cabliz file you offered for X10 also did not properly install with the textures as above. Your efforts are still appreciated and inventive, thank you! DJP
-
Are you using X9 or X10? DJP
-
Yes, in X9 the library works fine, in X10 none of the textures arrived with the other data. I too was surprised. DJP
-
Mick, Your library imported just fine into X9 but not into my X10. I wonder why that is. Anyway, thanks for sharing your library! The library imports into X10 but is then missing all associated textures when done. When I imported the RainScreen library, the texture did not also import into X9, I did not try it in X10. DJP

Beach front apartment kitchen and living room
DavidJPotter replied to EricWMLim's topic in Tips & Techniques
Very well done, especially the Chief work! DJP -
One way would be to make the outer thick part from a poly-line solid, the inner rails from molding polylines, then copy the wood grained texture from the image and import it into Chief as a custom material to which you then apply it to the inner custom slab, then you are done. DJP

You should discuss this with Chief Inc Tech Support as opposed to getting guesses here IMHO. DJP
