From inside the living room, take a camera or section view looking at that wall. Select it with a single click. Drag the lower vertical edges from right to left.

This wall I had to adjust manually.

Explode the tray ceiling, then pull the lower ceiling plane 4.5" back to the inside of the invisible wall.

The walls on (assumed) the main floor will automatically find the highest ceiling. This causes the bottom of the attic wall to match that height. Select the main floor wall, Structure tab, checck Stop at Ceiling Above. This should cause the main floor wall to stop at the first available celling (the lower one) and the attic wall will automatically follow. Cross your fingers!

I have the same situation in the plan I'm working on right now. I need to take a section view (facing the attic wall from the side of the lower ceiling), then drag the bottom of the attic wall down until it snaps to the top of the drywall.

Delete the ceiling surfaces from the outdoor stairwell room.

John, you'll need some attic walls in those locations. If you already have those in the plan, is the attic wall layer turned on in your camera view? Posting the plan would help us help you.

You will end up with some crown molding from a room roof sticking through the roof. Plan is attached with the correction. You should be able to copy / paste the new roof plane into your plan. 1761198212_Curvedroofissueplan.plan

Take note of all the data of the curved roof plane. I used a screen capture tool. Delete the curved roof plane. Draw a new one.Re-join and the problem should go away.

Do your walls align from floor to floor? Have you painted the exterior material to something other than the default material?

I get this error so many times every day. So far neither Chief tech support nor Nvidia tech support have been able to provide a solution. Sometimes I get 4 or 5 consecutive crashes just trying to get a simple library object, like an electrical outlet. The only help I can offer is to save before every camera view and before using the library. Seeing as it doesn't affect everyone with Alienware or Nvidia I can't help help but wonder if it isn't caused by a corrupted user library object. Also, there is a conflict between Chief and Nahimic audio service which may be running on your system if you have Alienware Command Center installed. Tech Support can provide guidance on disabling Nahimic.

You may notice that the framing isn't random, but rather the location of the walls are random. Notice how the framing is aligned to the reference grid. You may find this link helpful in addition to the use of a framing reference marker. The entire project can easily be moved to align with the reference grid.

Ceiling planes would be my first option. Molding polylines my 2nd. Solids / shapes 3rd.

While I don't know this, one might assume that the formulas used by Chief are not exactly the same as what would be used by a spreadsheet. For all I know, the calculations aren't being handled by a formula in the materials list at all, but rather by the program code. @Alaskan_Son may have some additional insight.

A couple of thoughts come to mind as this is not an automated function. One could learn to improve their spreadsheet skills to add those formulas; it can be very quick. I think you could also create a template so that you copy and paste the correct columns into that template. That would mean excluding the columns from the materials list that provide calculations. I'm sure there are others with more knowledge than myself who could offer more and better tips.

I find that a downvote is a great tool to increase user activity on a slow day! No one wants to be on a user forum when there's not enough interaction with others. I hand 'em out like they're free!

Thanks a lot Chop! I owe you one! For the buildings; I don't use displayed line lengths, I used dimensions to keep them all inside the polyline. I really wish there was a way to set the location of the displayed line length of a polyline. I know Michael had a video once showing how this could be achieved using moldings with a label, or maybe it was a polyline with a label.

While I don't disagree with you, it's a regional thing. 2 decimal places with no units is standard in the region for this project. Wasn't my idea, I just dance to the music being played! And 3 decimal places sometimes don't help when the lot isn't drawn to that level of accuracy! Plenty of the subdivision drawings I receive have text for dimensions to cover up slight inaccuracies in the drafting of the lots. 3 decimal places also won't help if Chief doesn't round correctly!

What I plan to do is just replace those with text, but not until the very end of plan completion! its just to stoopid!

Shouldn't a cantilever material also have a thickness as well? A cantilever is pretty common and should have an automatic function built into Chief. It should not require polyline solids, 3d moldings, editing the wall polyline, adjusting the height of corner boards, etc, etc, etc!

I have 2 dimensions shown at each location: one with 2 decimal places and one with 10 (to show they are the same). The dimensions circled in red are being rounded incrorrectly. The ones in green are rounded correctly. It is a matter of Chief producing a basic mathematical error.

That's so quick to make a fence panel. It'd be faster than typing this: Draw a general framing member in plan view. Set it as a 1x6, 96" long. Select it, use transform replicate tool to copy it 11 times, 6" up in the z axis. Group select all, use convert to symbol tool, add to library as millwork. You'll be able to select the new symbol in your library, and in a 3d view, you can use the replace tool to change out your current panels for the entire fence.
