  1. Such a great question. I too will be interested in what others say. Looks pretty good but it lacks the pop....... suggestions..... 1- take the shot lower, maybe 36" above ground and looking up a bit 2- not such a straight on shot but maybe off to the side so you can pick up depth of house by seeing the side also 3- maybe not include the entire house, maybe miss a little bit of one of the sides 4- more plantings in front yard to give more depth and more plantings along side of yard 5- a shadow on facade of house via a tree behind the camera a pretty good raytrace, but of course we can always improve...... it would be interesting if you stripped the plan down, posted it, and let everyone take a shot at it.
  2. Roof trusses seem to be in an inauspicious location.
  3. Thanks Joe and Perry, I got the truss calcs working.
  4. Here is the latest, typically I have 10 numerals describing an APN, I went to google earth pro, how many digits did I get? 9 digits. So I plug those nine digits into the county website and they can not find the parcel. APN 959040015 what do you think the real number is?
  5. You are correct, it cannot be converted to a pdf format... so I am back to where I was. Can the truss company send it to me in PDF format? I don't know, but when I called the truss company they said yes, everybody else is having problems opening it. Why do I spend so much time trying to figure out some new system that some other company has decided to switch to.
  6. Sorry about that, it is there now......
  7. Give this a try..... I think the key is to see if you can print to PDF. HINKLE 2 OF 3 TRUSSES.PDF PSS TEST 1 copy.ps
  8. Why do people change the methods? I finally get comfortable with a method and then they change the method. The latest..... In the past I would get my truss calcs in PDF format, 3 different files (approval letter, truss calcs, boiler plate details), so I would open all three files, convert into 1 file, print to pdf, send to print shop all was well. Now I get the the same 3 files but the ACTUAL TRUSS CALCS are in a postscript format that for some reason I cannot combine with other 2 files and thus print to PDF. Anybody know what I am talking about and do you have a solution.
  9. Great question, I think it is very important to provide a plan..... because those are the walls and defaults you are working with. I could do it in my own plan, but often times there will be something very subtle that will mess up the provided solution. So, if you provide a plan, the person providing the solution will be using the parameters that you are dealing with thus giving you a solution that will work with your default parameters. Speaking from personal experience, when I provide a solution without the OP's plan, 85% of the time is was wasted effort. So just provide the plan, if it is too much trouble for you to post the plan, it will be too much trouble for me to help with a solution. Besides, it's funny, when there is a plan, in seconds you will get many people helping with the solution.
  10. Thanks, I could of sworn there was one in the lie-berry.
  11. My first thought is, no CA did not change it.... but now I am not so sure as I think about it a bit more........ I will have to retract my earlier statement that I have never run this situation...... I have. I have seen that the ceiling height will be higher than the floor ceiling height and I could swear that I did not change the ceiling height. The way I have fixed this in the past is by creating the attic as I showed in the video. Summation: The OP may have changed default ceiling height prior to building the floor which would explain how the OP ended up in the predicament...... but based on past experience, it may not of been user error, but CA reacting to some subtle setting or order of building that the OP used...... at least now the OP and myself will know of a possible fix for the situation.
  12. Here is the vid. A good vid, I doubt this has been discussed. http://youtu.be/MRr4foCeyXg
  13. I am looking for the plant on at the gable shown in pic below. Where would I find this? thanks
  14. You made a very subtle mistake. You changed the height of the ceiling of the family room before you built the top floor. It is no longer the default ceiling height. Quick easy fix, go to top floor, select all walls, define as non room def, go back to family room, change the ceiling to default heigh (120") now go back to top floor, select all walls and make room def. All will be well. If my #$&%$^^$%&*(*^& videos would upload, you can watch the vid.
  15. Nice plan Nate, if you need help with that wall at side of dormer, let me know and I will show you how to do it.
  16. My Buddy is happy now. Thanks guys, points all the way around...... and his message to Perry......
  17. So, this is where he is now.....
  18. I agree, it is a nice style,
  19. I think he may need to talk to headquarters on Monday.
  20. That may be the way I look now, but due to my new fitness regimen, I will look like an adonis.
  21. You know, I think I agree with you..... at one time they did not double up and now for some reason they do....... or am I thinking of auto update exterior dimensions. Whatever the case, if you auto dimension, they should not double up.
  22. Open the rooms and default the ceiling height. The only proper ceiling height is the ceiling height over stairs since it is the default height.
  23. Or maybe the footing is not aligned with the exterior face.
  24. Yeah sorry Bill, just goofing with you like everybody goofs with us. Have you seen the new picture of my steroid induced torso? Will somebody please give me some negative points for goofing on Bill?
