  1. Tony, If this is what you are after just say Yes and I can flip you back the plan to take a look. So that would be No? More like post #7 and not #1 and #13? I think my option b is about the same as what Glenn has below. Easier to build. Adkins Residence a fix.plan Adkins Residence b fix.plan
  2. Plan did not attach. You may have to create a zip file if it is too large. I think you also have to close the plan first.
  3. Scott, I would like to sit in on that meeting with you if it is at a time I am available. If not please record and post for all the rest of us. Thanks for all the extra work you do to advance the software and teach all of us. Chopsaw
  4. Thanks Michael, I will try my best to figure out how you did this.
  5. Do you have the same results with a Full Camera? Are you using the Dolly mode? I have found that the Full Camera in Orbit mode is quit good in X8 although it is a little touchy with the zoom feature when in close requiring a CTRL ALT Zoom in some situations.
  6. No there is functionality for this, Just go to your framing set and select the decking boards you want to change colour and adjust the Materials or use your material painter in 3D. Now the planks around the tree are a different story, they are drawn manually with polyline solids.
  7. So now in X8 we have been given 6 decimal places to figure out what to do with, Hummmm... 128.637952o https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/3321-angle-degree-by-default/?hl=decimal#entry28141
  8. Thanks Michael, That is not what I thought the tool did but I got it now thanks to you. Not practical for cad lines but more useful for distribution of objects. Not really well explained in the help file. I will watch your video when you get it done.
  9. Michael Thanks for the Great Video and the time it took to make it. This is a little off topic but, I was wondering if there was a tool that would save even more time when you are "Multiple Copying" if you set your Multiple Copy Primary Offset to 24" and your Secondary Offset to 48" when doing multiple rooms with the same grid. The reason I ask is that I have tried this many times in lots of different situations and can not get it to work and it would be great if it would. The instructions are so simple and I can't figure it out.
  10. Perry, Would this be the same as a "Save as" feature for cameras? If so this has to be submitted as a vitally serious suggestion if it has not already been done. This would be a major time saver now that we have live views in X8 layout.
  11. Have you checked the 3D Warehouse:https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model.html?id=ef17cd1e7a19ab26c098c5818fb85eba
  12. That was it, thanks Jerry. Unlike me you sure are sharp tonight, I have not run into that one before and I hope there was no other reason I had the wall set as no locate, (old plan can't remember).
  13. Just a little stumped with this. I have a door that displays fine in Plan View Set, and Default Set, but is just a ghost in Plan Footprint Set (selectable but will not display). Layer is on and the same as the other two visable doors, I have room definition therefore a wall to contain the door. Not quite sure what else to look for? Any Ideas? Do not have permission to post plan.
  14. Michael,Yes now I understand. Mike, Have to be up early tomorrow so I will be signing off and leaving you in the hands of two of the most capable West Coast Boys. If the previous instructions are clear to you but will not work please post your plan and one of the two previously mentioned guys will help I am sure or I will check back with you in the morning.
  15. It seems that this is necessary just to get away from the default so you can make custom adjustments. (Transparency in this case)
  16. Mike, Are you working on the upper cabinets or have you moved on to the base cabinets with countertop? Don't worry about the grey just hit the drop down arrow and select solid.
  17. Marilena, With a little more time to think about this problem, your assessment was likely correct and the better approach would have been to find an exterior room type for your sunroom that would work structurally, such as Balcony, Court, Deck, or Porch. Things always seem to work out better in the long run if you do not have to cheat.
  18. Michael & Jonathan, Thanks for all the help today as I was doing field work. Am I advising correctly as for the countertops or is there an easier way?
  19. Yes Alan, That is the obvious solution that we should have checked first. Although even when you place an exterior door on a wall that Chief considers to be interior it does not appear on the schedule description as exterior, so there is a method that needs to be employed here to cheat the system. Everything gets altered including the door thickness. Thanks, Chopsaw
  20. Mike, Try making your upper cabinets semi-transparent this works for cabinets and when there are stacked appliances you can do the same thing with the 2D symbol block. Not so sure there is an easy solution for the counter top but you could try making copies and putting them on separate layers if you are not concerned about you material list. I did not have time to test this one for you but give it a try if there are no other suggestions. Good Luck, Chopsaw
  21. I believe you can delete it yourself after you are done re posting over to Home Talk (bottom Line)
  22. Thanks Joe, I was just reviewing the post and noticed that you alluded to this feature in post #6, so thank you for expanding on the subject. I have successfully tinkered with this feature to adjust my schedules so I will look into the Sub Categories for the future. P.S. For anyone else that is interested in Joe's "slightly complex process" I found his detailed procedure here:https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/5712-simplify-the-creation-of-custom-columns-in-schedules/?hl=%2Bsub+%2Bcategory and it works so thanks again Joe. 23. If you want to have access to some of the other columns of your schedule open the "Components Dialog" for the item and edit or add to a column that is also in your Schedule. This is something that I am just learning and did not seem to be discussed in this thread but is a very powerful advanced tool so you may want to take a look at the help file.
  24. Mike, If you just go back and uncheck "include in schedule" as William suggested in post #2 I think you will achieve what you originally requested.
